Tundra Strut Measurements

I know the Tundra struts threads have been beaten to death, but I hoping people who have them installed can put up their before and after measurements. Also what their struts entail (spacer, shocks, year of 4runner, ect.). I'm looking to put mine in soon and I'm not sure I want to add a top plate spacer. Also not sure I want to add a 1/4" or 1/2". I'm looking to get ~2" from mine.

if you only want ~2" you wont need a spacer... the TRD tundra strut will give you about 2-2.5" of lift up front with out a spacer

Yeah I have heard they give you anywhere from 1.75"-2.5" of lift without spacers, but I don't want to be on the low end. My rear coils will be 2.5-2.75" so 2-2.25" will be perfect up from for some rake.

When I put mine on, I got ~2". That is on a 2000. Different years sit at different heights stock. I'm guessing that they settled ~1/4" after a while.

How much height do you need?

The 1/4" spacer may not need longer studs (mine did not, some studs may be shorter and may need to be replaced) (if there are threads showing after the nuts are tightened then the studs are long enough) (use locktite on the nuts)

The actual spacer thickness is 1/4" (.25"). The Lower control arm is ~14" long (pivot/alignment bolts to the ball joint CL). The shock is inboard by ~6" or 43%. A 1/4" spacer yields .3575 (or 23/64", just shy of 3/8" or .375)

A 3/8" top out spacer will yield .53625, or ~17/32" (just over 1/2 inch)

Thanks Gerdo for the reply. I was debating the 1/4" or the 3/8" for the front, but I think the 3/8" will be too much for my needs. I may just go with the 1/4" just to be safe.

Mine is a 2000 as well, so our lift should be the same besides the amount of sag from the original coils.

As for shocks, I don't know what you were planning on doing, but my .02 is to go with 5100s and not look back. I have a weird popping noise coming from the front, and I don't know if thats because of my used tokico shocks, but I wouldn't put them on again. 5100s and don't look back.

Yeah I think the 3/8 will either be a little to high or just right. I can't decide. I want ~.5" rake so 2-2.25" will be perfect. Yeah I have heard to go with 5100's, but I just don't have the money for that now. I don't have $200 or more for shocks right now, but maybe in 6 months to a year. The struts I have are KYB so they aren't the stock billie's, so I'm happy with that. I know the shocks aren't 9 years old and should ride fine for the time being. KSWAY has the same set up with the KYB's in the front and he says he really likes them. I think I'm going to go with the 1/4" spacers for now and if I need to I will get some 3/8".

You can get those bilstein 5100s (height adjustables) for $170 on ebay. Assuming these are the right ones 2 Bilstein Struts 95.5-04 Toyota Tacoma 0-2.5" lift | eBay
