tundra strut question...

so i have a chance to buy a set of non TRD front struts off a tundra, my question is will it give me any lift at all or is it just a waste of time, i would like to yes do the TRD ones but cant find any locally and dont wanta spacer my front end. i am kinda weighted down with all the armor so even a little bit would help, would it give me the "highlander" height or more? does anyone know? the guy is asking $100 i think its kinda steep, the truck was hit hard and rolled

they are bilsteins, with the paint code yellow red or yellow orange if that helps

I believe you need the Yellow/Yellow, Yellow/Blue Coils....that's what I have. They gave me about the same lift as my Toytec 3" Lift spacer.....only ride a heck of a lot better. I also added the small Top Plate Spacer that sits on top of the strut assembly.

Mine came off a rolled truck, and I got mine for about $80.00 per side, plus shipping to Canada.....= over $300.00!

I have heard the non-TRD will not give you the same lift. PBcolt put some on and he didn't really get any lift at all. You might just get .5-.75" of lift. Plus the TRD coils are progressive, which is a big plus. Is it a 4x4? That will make a difference as well.

Yep yep, I put on some random color tundra coils and I lost a half inch. I was not pleased. Just save yourself the stress and don't try.

I'd suggest not buying used struts at all.

I recently removed my 3 year old Toyota Tokiko TRD Struts and one of them was leaking. They only had 40,000 miles on em.

After seeing that, I will never buy used suspension parts unless it is a last resort.

hey kid you ever make it up to everett? i got some '99 tall struts already assembled i can let you have for like $50 with the rear springs for like $20 or if you want i have lc rear coils laying around as well with some front ome alum. spacers i'm looking to get rid of...actually, i'm driving down that way next week if you want i can swing them through, it'd be cool to check out your ride man.

the 99' tall struts i have are still good, put some new billies on them about 1.5 years ago but then got the lift so now they just sit, the rear coils don't sag either, i can send you some pics of how my ride used to sit before the lift if you want to check it out, no biggie but i saw your talking about getting the highlander lift so thought you might be interested, if not we should still meet up for a few minutes on my way down

i would be interested but im leaving on wedsnday afternoon to head down to cali to do some wheeling for a week. id love to pick up that stuff from you though. i come up to ft lewis every now and again. never been much further north though, never been to seattle... i know i know im a failure lol. but yeah let me know, it would be cool to see your rig too, maybe it will give me more ideas on things that can put me into more debt lol

well what time you heading out to cali, i'm driving down to cali on wends as well, may if you can leave a bit later in the afternoon i can get down to you and drop it all off, if you tell me your going to take the stuff, i'll hold on to it for you, i got a few pm's since i posted that asking to sell, i told them washington guys get first crack at it so i don't have to ship.

im not leaving till at least 3pm... i have to pick up my dad from work in beaverton and then we are headed south... yeah id love to get the stuff even though i could put it on till after my wheeling trip -boo!!!
