Tundra TRD Coils and Struts with LC Coils!

Thanks Duhockey and Blcktpgsr! I'm much happier with this setup! Rides like a dream! I took it off the road onto a little quad trail yesterday, and it rides amazingly! I'm planning on taking it out maybe today on some more mild stuff, to test the flex!

Not really... if you want to make them longer, buy some OEM front links and put them on the back, they will give you more flex and keep the body roll to a minimum.

you should be fine with the stock ones though, I still have my stock rear swaybar and links

Some 4Runner comparison shots, and FLEX Pics......

I went out today looking to find some stuff I can test my flex on. I was by myself, so didn't want to go on any knarly trails. I found a small access road which led to a trail I went on before, and took some pics on that trail.

First off, I went to the Autoparts store, and found another 96 - 98 4Runner Limited, so I parked next to it to get some comparison shots.

Now, for the goods.....

But your rig looks good, and the rear links aren't a big deal until you flex the rear and bust one, I'm going to put 2nd gen rear links on mine but I've heard you can also use 3rd gen front links (as stated above)

meh, who cares, looks like a fine place to go and test some stuff out chances are it's a county or state access road of some kind with established roads and what you could call trails, it's not like he's bush whacking through wet lands or a green belt, certain laws are b.s. and this is one of them, it's the people who go out to places like this and take chain saws to make new trails and start just driving over anything instead of following what is already been laid down and throw beer bottles and all of the rest all over the place that cause the problems, so should we close everything down for everyone becuase of a few re-****s? well we do, and i simply choose to not follow those laws, anyways most of the time you just get a warning as long as your not being an idiot,

i don't believe in park closures, trail closures or access road closures (unless private property), you can't close mother nature and you can't close state or federally owned land (otherwise owned by the people of the state or the people of the united states, that being you and me) at the same time i believe you assume all risk,responsibility,and associated costs of your actions
when in the wilderness.
and that's how live my life, like it or not fine me if you catch me or whatever but your not going to cut me off from the wilderness and put laws restricting my access to what god has given all of us by birth, in return i will pack it in pack it out, leave little to no trace and be respectful of my environment and leave it in such away other behind me can enjoy it the way i did,

sorry for the rant, just a hot topic for me personally, I'm part of the Washington wilderness collation and a few 4x4 and vw camper clubs which are always in major battles for land rights the WWC wants to limit and deny almost all access for motor vehicles of any kind into the wilderness and work very hard on fighting for preserving large bodies of land for hiking/climbing while the 4x4'ers fight for keeping already maintained trails and common 4x4 areas open for motor vehicles, i fully support the WWC but get pissed when they try to close down places like the photo's above for protection, who wants to hike next to power lines? there's already roads there! the area is no longer really "wild" ,it's all a balance and not to be a jerk, but personally i have no problem breaking these laws, i just don't care, yep i guess that's about it, we should be free to roam America...... as long as we don't trash the place on our way through, and punish those that do very very heavily.
against the law or not that's how i live and will be happy to tell my grandkids of the days i was able to do so.

ok so im a noob dont hate on me too much. we all gotta start somewhere. so you got the tundra struts with the lc coils in the front and skyjackers with lc coils in the rear. or do the tundra struts come with there own coils cause its trd? asking cause ive been looking into getting some used ones on ebay and none of them have the coils like i see on yours. but everyone says they have the tundra trd setup so i just wanna make sure i get it right. ps your ride is sweet. and i dont know what id do without this website and yall always posting ****. god bless brother hopefully mine will look just as awesome soon

avenged yota, the 3rd gen lift thread sticky will answer all of your questions regarding this lift and all over applible setups. I know lifts are confusing, but that sticky is a really good place that houses all your need to knows! It will tell you which exact tundra color coded coils will work as well as all of the FRONT landcruiser springs color combinations used to lift YOUR rear.

thanks man. more or less i just wanted to know if he had the lc coils with the trd struts. ive got that page bookmarked too with all the info so thanks. im debating now on going with the strait up trd strut with trd spring or get the bilstein strut with the trd spring if that aint the same thing. or if he has the lc spring with the trd strut then from what i read that is a pretty awesome set up.

Lc spings.. Its personal preference but if you read up on it, there's far less complaints about ride quality and flex from those using landcruiser springs vs guys using other setups. I'm not about to bash the other lift set ups out there, but the amount of flex- ditch your rear sway bar and yea you may get close or the same. Unless you jump up to a really high end lift like long travel or something, I highly doubt you get the plush ride out of it.

Fightman, the truck looks great! Just wait till you get into something where you can really flex it out.

Thanks guys for the comments.....the rig has taken some cosmetic changes sinces these pics have been taken. Take a look at my build thread for current pics!

As for flex, I can't tell you much about that, as it's mainly my Daily Driver, and I don't take it out on the trails much. I can say though, the ride quality is pretty freakin nice....much better than my stock setup, and much better than the Toytec spacer with 890 coils in the back......

I think you're confused. The Tundra set up consists of the Tundra TRD coils and Bilstein shocks. That is what is up front. You can use the stock TRD Bilsteins or a lot people (myself included) have Bilstein 5100 up front. The LC coils are used for the rear along with Skyjacker shocks in Fightman's case.

yea i think so too. thanks for that. still learning but ill catch on. just wanted to be sure on all this cause i read the thread about all the ways to jack up my 3rd gen which was amazing. and after researching everyones im going with fightmans set up. tundra front and lc coils in the rear. found some new ones for 45 a piece so cant beat it.

Yeah it's confusing and if I ever stop being lazy I'm going to try and redo the lift thread. I will definitely try to finish the Tundra thread by the end of this weekend.

New what for 45 a piece? LC coils? You can find those for $50 pretty easy and it also depends on the height you want fromt them. Just remember they will sag when loaded down. So 7 wraps look the least raked, but might sag lower than the Tundra's once the back is loaded or you have 5 people in the 4runner.
