Tundra TRD Coils and Struts with LC Coils!

Hey folks!

Just got back from my dad's place, where we installed the Tundra TRD stuff and the LC coils I got for Free from a fellow forum member of Sudbury Jeep!

Here's a before shot of my rig with the Toytec 3" spacer and the 890 coils with the Skyjacker Shocks.

After the Tundra Strut assembly and LC 8 Wrap Coils:

Left is the Toytec Spacer inside my stock 4Runner Struts, right is the Tundra:

Note: I used the top plate spacer from my Toytec lift to add another 1/2 inch of lift in the front. I had to dissassemble the Tundra struts, replace the Tundra Top plate and studs with my 4Runner top plate and Toytec extended studs, then re-assemble it and use the 1/2 inch top spacer on top of the whole assembly.

I also retained my Skyjacker shocks, and Toytec Diff Drop. I must say, that after reading all the threads on the LC coils, I have to agree.....THEY MAKE THE 4RUNNER RIDE LIKE A CADILAC! Combined with the Tundra strut assemblies, this truck rides like a totally different machine! :artist:

How do the fronts ride i'm ditching the old man emu coils in the front and am thinking of replacing with these or billies, would you say the fronts ride like the lc coils, i love how the 8 wraps ride and want that same smoothness up front

I can't compare the Tundra stuff to OME, as I was just running a spacer in the front before.....but the ride of the Tundra stuff is amazing! I find that even over wash boards the ride is alot more controlled, and large dips in the road don't bother it either! My recommendation, find some slightly used Tundra TRD Strut assemblies off E-bay or at a wrecking yard, and run those! People say that the Tundra Bilsteins are too stiff, but I find they are great, especially compared to my previous setup.

Sounds good that's what i drive most is wash boards and just need the clearance for berms and boulders every now and again i'm more expedition or overland as opposed to mud and crawling stuff i just find what i got right now a bit bouncy. How close to level are you as well?

If you check my after pic, you'll notice there is quite a bit of rake, but that's how I like it!:bluejump:

Loan a tool program at the parts store........I believe you can buy them for 30 or so bucks from a Tractor or tool supply store.......

It took us the better part of the day, but that included time off for lunch, and about 2 hours of working by myself.......we're noobs!

cool, theres a slim chance I get mine installed tomorrow. Im stoked to hear that the y/b bilsteins aren't too stiff or anything.

Nice work. The 4runner looks great. I'm definitely going to have to put a 3/8 or 1/2 spacer up front. Are you rubbing at all up front with the 285's? I'm debating just getting a 1" body lift to put in at the same time, but I'm not sure if I will need it.

I did rub hard when I 1st did the Toytec lift, but trimmed the lower plastic valance and removed my front mudguards to get the clearance. I would think that I would still rub in those areas even with the Tundra stuff, but I'm not sure. I'm planning on trying to put back on my front mudguards to see if I can clear them now......I'll post picks when I do this.....not sure when it will be though.

I'm told that if you get a true 3" off lift in the front, and use the 1" body lift, that you can clear with no trimming......that was something I didn't want to tackle, so I opted to just do a little trimming.....maybe others will chime in on this???

Thanks, yeah I read that the 1" body lift will cure any rubbing. Its only another $100 so I might just do it. Looking forward to hearing how that thing flexes and handles the trail now.

I'm looking to go out my next weekend off, but that won't be for another 2 weeks.......maybe I'll do some mild stuff just to get some flex pics......
