I have to say it was pretty amazing!!! It made it's last flight right above my job also. I work 1 mile from LAX. We went to the rooftop and viewed it's last flight. It came in to LAX level to our sight path for it's final landing. I walked 2 blocks up the street a couple days later to see it go through the streets in the pictures above
The Tundra wasn't hooked up to it til it got to Randy's Donuts Friday evening. My pics above are 3 blocks from Randy's donuts and before the Tundra hooked up to it late Friday night.
It stayed at Randy's donuts for about 4-5 hrs while it was removed from the blue (self-powered) flatbed it was on. The Tundra then took it across the 405 fwy overpass so it could make it to it's final resting point the next morning (Sat).
There were tons of people with 2way remotes on all corners of it and 2 guys in crane buckets on the rear and front corners controlling it through the streets. They laid huge solid steel plates throughout the streets to keep the shuttle from crumpling the streets.
The Tundra actually didn't move it very far at all. The video above is Saturday morning when it left Exposition park and moved to it's actual final resting place at the Space museum.
Finally saw my first commercial of this today during the football games. Not exactly sure what it proves--if a Tundra could do it, I'm sure any full-size pickup could. It IS a clever stunt, though.
