TUNE for 2015 TRD PRO?

Things have changed... There is some limited tuning available now, but still not mainstream. Yet... will take some time.

There is also a piggyback system from URD that they are using for their SC. Would totally not be worth it for NA.

just thinking. If you can't tune it, how are they putting a supercharger in them?

Magnuson sends a hand held flash tuner. I believe, and some others know better than I, they worked out a deal with Toyota since they used to make the super chargers anyways for TRD. URD uses a self-learning U-Con piggy back computer.
There are 2 other companies that say they have/can tune/ working on a tune. Orange Virus Tuning said they’ll have a tune ready the middle of Sept. I haven’t yet checked back with them to find out if it’s finished. DAP tuning also said they can tune it, but from doesn’t have a tune ready to go yet via hand held. They need to dunk tune it from what I’ve seen on their site. I have no clue if either are for real, but both are held in high regards in the Tacoma (OVTune) and Tundra (DAP) communities.

OVT has told me winter before they get to the 4runner, they are finishing up a TT setup fro the 3.5 in the Taco.

Yeah probably. Sept. is what they told me when I emailed them. That’s obviously not true.

I sent OV an email yesterday myself. I heard back the timeframe is winter. My email was checking up on my August email where they said 30-60 days or so.

Has anyone done the URD UCON on a stock 1grfe? I’m getting tired of waiting and I’m more willing to spend on the UCON if someone could chime in who isn’t running it with other mods or a Supercharger.

Is URD selling them separate now? I thought they were only coming with the S/C kits. Not sure how well it would work.

Just pinged OVT this morning and they are still on track for winter release.
I also asked if they had any interest in a boosted application for the 4runner and the reply was they haven't heard much from owners about interest in that.
If what I hear about their boosted Tacoma is reasonably close, I would be definitely interested in that route vs the Magnuson and the URD Whipple based on Matt is the only one to crack the ECU. It's all in the tune.

From one engineer to another... don't argue. It's a waste of time. Apparently we just think differently than other people. I believe the exact same thing as you and even though the 0-60 times are identical apparently the "feel" is what is worth the $300.

Capitalism baby!

I agree completely (side note I am also an engineer). If it was like a 30-40$ chipset I may have considered it. However, they priced me out of their market for what the product does.

To each his own, I'm curious at to what product(s) you have experience with to make these statements? (I am an engineer too)

I have a Tacoma as well that has the benefit of being S/C'd, bigger injectors, Supra Twin Turbo MAF, Methanol injected and tuned. I know the benefits of a proper tune. I do know there are bad examples (bullydog, unichip) out there
but what Matt has accomplished no one else has.:yo:

EDIT: I think you thought I was talking about the tune? I was strictly talking about the throttle mapping devices.

As I said, Capitalism Baby! That is the point of a free market. Those that want a product will go for said product at whatever price point they are comfortable entering. And again I shared my opinion about the price point that I as a consumer am willing to get into. Again MY OPINION! I do not have direct experience with the Sprint Booster or Throttle Commander because I have chosen to not sink my money into something I personally don't see value in for the way I operate. AGAIN MY OPINION ONLY.

I have done a fair bit of work assisting my brother and friends on their bored out, turbo, and tuned honda motors and VW motors.

My background is Aero, Mech E, and Eng Management, I am currently a product Manager for a global manufacturing company for 3 product families with manufacturing in 4 countries. So I unfortunately use more of my business degree these days than my engineering degrees, however I still love to dabble.

That Taco sounds freaking awesome!!! Where are you located?

Before I decided not to do it I was going to convert my old 2wd 4R limited 2000 to a Solid Axle with a bunch of toys. Then I fell in love with the 16 Trail and chose to go that route instead.
