Turbo....?

Anyone turbo charged any of these V8s?

Truck is no longer a primary use vehicle and I want to do some stuff to her.

250K on the clock and still runs like a top so I am thinking it is time for some boost and a small lift kit or at least new suspension. Stock is showing some wear.

None (v8s) are turbocharged that I know of. Some have the TRD supercharger, but 03-04 handles this better, as their non-vvti motors.

I was thinking more in terms of the aftermarket.

She isn't my primary hauler anymore so I would love to throw some boost at this peach. Just not sure what the tuning and other supporting markets have available.

What year is your T4R? If it's a 05 or newer, you will have to change the ECU. Also, if you don't build the bottom end, I wouldn't run over 5psi max. Keep in mind that you will still notice a decent gain at 5psi though.

2003.

Not sure I wouldn't pull the motor either way, but she is tight even with 250K on it now.

Will these models accommodate and air suspension as well? Pretty sure the suspension is near the end of its lifespan as well.

My 03 limited has the RAS stock... I wouldn't go to air if my life depended on it... the concept is nice but really a PITA if it starts to leak, like mine is now. plus it is not really a comfy ride.

I would put in air bags in the rear coils if you are looking to haul a lot...

Good to know.

Recommendations for a smallish life kit so I can stuff some larger rubber under it?

I just did a toytec 3 inch lift and am very satisfied with the results. It was around $1700 with new ucas. I bought the ultimate kit, but they have cheaper ones too that can be had for under 1000. I put a little taller rubber 265/70 on. At your miles you may check all your ball joints and links as they most likely will need to be replaced too.

take a look at 5100s and OEM FJ springs. the front is adjustable and you'll get 1" or so on the rear for under $450, $400 if you search hard enough for a deal on the FJ springs.

I recently swapped this in and really like it. no rubbing with 265/75/16 DTs.

Well you could certainly be one of the few on here!

Sounds like a little more work than it's worth but hell, none of us really know.

You could also buy a first gen already super modded. Probably end up costing the same lol.

Fab up a rear mount turbo. Easy job for someone with a welder. There's a lot of room to mount the turbo where the stock muffler sits.

Those people have no business working on their cars.

Sounds like the rods on these motors are crap so unless I am going to yank it and put new pistons and rods in it, I will probably leave it as is.

I would like to pull it, but I need my garage to get cleared out first.
