is there such a thing as mentioned on a previous thread about a first stage turbo charger, where you do not need a inter cooler and used 87 octane?

any time you do some type of forced induction, you are not going to be able to run 87 octane and be safe for any extended period of time. the higher octane fuels cut down on detonation. You could technically set your self up for E-85, and a turbo kit, since E-85 is comparable to around 110 octane. BUT E-85 is 30% less efficient, so you would have to upgrade to larger injectors, and run at least a piggyback fuel computer, like the e-manage

Stick Figure said he was going to get together an estimate for kits like Stage 1, State 2, etc. He didn't say he was going to sell it though.

yeah i read that thread... i wish they start making kits for it. i know my runner has around 200 or a little less that that, but i would be so happy with 3+. i dont want to result to this, but if it aint gonna happen, im gonna get a new car:confused: :(

Why did you even buy the 4runner then? It's going to hard to get over 300 hp out of it.

Even if you supercharge it, it probably still won't even be close to 300.

I would guess you would have to do the 7th injector and all the fuel upgrade to even be close. By that point you will have spent a good bit of money.

I would suggest just buying a new car.

I am working on something. I will say first off this is not my biggest priority in life right now though. I do have a full time job that is ridiculously busy w/ similar projects right now. I am also going to be moving in to a new place w/ in the next month. I have started looking at things though and have my initial ideas, i just need some time to play w/ it now. I would like to hear what everyone's opinions are on whats important to them. For me personally, if i want fast, i just don't drive the 4Runner. What i am looking for is the ability to drive up the mountain inclines w/ out having to slow down to a crawl anytime i have a trailer attached. So whats everyone else looking for? do we have more than a couple "racers" out there?

Being able to tow a trailer easily would be nice. I would like somewhere around 250-275 HP so that would mean roughly 100 hp from the turbo. 250 hp would be a big improvement and would make the 4runner decent for an SUV.
