Twisted seatbelt - frustrating!

Anybody ever have their seatbelt twisted? I bought my '95 4Runner used and the belt is twisted between the door housing and the shoulder bracket. Makes it a pain to get on and off. I have tried to pull the twist through but there just doesn't seem to be enough space in the gap to get it through. Is there something I am missing?

mine did the same thing, and still does occasionally. Fold it over in kind of a long triangle shape and pull it through...takes a little patience but it works.

Thanks. I have tried that, but it just won't go through - when it's folded it's too thick. I am hesitant to use a tool for fear that I may rip the seatbelt. I'll keep working on it.

i have had that too, its tough to pull through but it will go

twist and pull, it will hold your weight in an accident so it will handle you pulling on it hard

Triangle

Same thing here, the fold over thing works. Slide the buckle up high and just sort of roll the edge of the fabric into itself in space in the buckle, get it started in a shallow triangle as described, and slide the buckle down a litte at a time while keeping tention and folding slow and steady with your thumb. The 'triangle' will slowly cross over while the belt rolls over inside the steel slot. The trick is to keep everything under tension....not sure how I did it....I was sitting in the seat and I had some of the belt under my leg. Had to do both of them like this. It will work. Makes you wonder how they got that way in the first place.

I'm not sure how the second gens are set up but have you checked the bolt that holds it on at the bottom? On some trucks and cars, when the bolt is tight you can still move the seatbelt. Sometimes you just neet to spin the belt on the bolt 360 degrees to fix the problem.
