Two more mods down, Duratracs on the t4r

so i just finished 2 more mods, billet grill, which is growing on me more and more, and i painted my wheels black.

i still want to add piaa 525 lights to the bumper, tacoma skid plate,and a 2 inch lift.

oh, and for everyone that wanted to see my new Duratracs on the runner, here you go

pretty self explanitory, but post up if you have any questions, or if you wanna tell me how good my runner looks

damn that is a clean lookin ride! love the grille and the wheels and tires. i also have to say that the silver lip really just pulls everything together even better.

yea, im liking the silver more and more

and the rig is freshly washed, so it looked pretty good. id say its clean if i can see th reflection of the road on the hood

and im lovin the duratracs so far. little more rough than my last set of tires, but then again they were a 4 ply tire and i stepped up to a 6.

and i forgot to mention, since my last picture post, i added the vinal on the headlights for the "eyelid" look, little bit of leftover vinal on the turn signals, blue over the foglights so they shine a brighter white when on, and i had the trd decals on the back side windows highlighted with silver to match the car and give it a shadowy look

and yes, Thunder Cloud FTW!!!

So i have to admit, I was losing confidence in my grille, but you've really just given me a big booster, I'm not just running a grille alone. Now it's for sure that some others like it enough, and it really looks great on silver. Maybe this will encourage more to this grille style?

And I like what you've done on the headlights, it really gives the car a mean and aggressive look. I've noticed that both of our 4Runners have much in common, the grille, clear corners, led tails, etc.

Lets just say I'm getting some pretty nice ideas. I might just put that bug deflector I have back on.

I'd really love to hear what you've got to say about Duratracs. I want to make them my next tire, but since they're so new, not many have really reviewed them, at least not many 4Runner owners. Diggin the rim paint too. I'm hoping when I get those 17" Tundra rims on, it'll look half as good as your set up.

Wow..thats exactly what I want to do with my rims until I get the money to buy my 20"s...the only difference is that i'm gonna leave the center caps silver too....I just havent had time to go with the guy that its gonna do it...

you did it yourself or went to a shop?...

Looks pretty sweet and I like the Duratracs but they don't offer a D load range and E is way to much for me on the street but the C load range might work but another set of Nittos still might be my next tire;decisions,decisions.........

bodum, thank you for all of the compliments. its taken me a while and alot of hard work to get my t4r to where it is today. but as always there is more to come.

but funny story, for those of you interested in this grill, they send you out these tiny little pieces that have adhesive on one side, tell you to stick them onto your grill, and drill little holes in them and fasten it all with small screws. well i had some difficulty with that, seeing as i dont have anything to secure the small pieces as i drilled them, so i just used epoxy and im golden.

with the headlights, i just purchased vinal from lamin-x and double layered it to give it a darker look. there is blue vinal on the fog lights, but its not staying very well as its such a rounded surface, so i will be searching for some of that tint-spray stuff in blue and using that. it really does look good at night though.

as for the wheels. i did it all myself. used painters tape to mask off the lip, sanded everything down, used lacquer thinner on it to polish it up, compressor to blow it all clean, primer and high heat paint. no joke i used matte barbecue paint because its supposed to be fairly durable. and when everything was said and done i pulled the tape and everything off and sanded the lip down a bit to give it a smooth finish

and Ron, i know your on the fence, but go look at a set of duratracs at the tire shop. thats what sent me over the edge. the overall look of the tire is sooo aggressive in person, and the sidewall looks amazing on the t4r. as for it only being a c load range, our rigs arent heavy enough to really need a d range tire. its doable but not necessary. so from there its all personal opinion

man james don't let people hate on you for your grille, it looks good and if you like it then thats what matters. after you get those rims and tires put on and what not its gonna look mean.

Clem- I bought the wheels a while back and they're just chillin in my garage. My budget doesn't really let me get tires right now, but I am going to buy them one by one until I have 4. I am buying the tires from a place called Grand Prix tire, they supply my dealership.

These are their quotes for 265/70/17
duratrac = 120 ea
bfg a/t ko = 160 ea

That's really an amazing deal so I just need to get money.

My last check is going towards paying a speeding ticket and surviving the next two weeks.

The prices were special, cash only under the table. We do buy hundreds of tires from them per week...
