Uca's swap

So I'm waiting for my toytec lift to come and wanted to know how important is it and if its something that gonna have to be done one day(if yes than I rather do it now) I'm not sure yet what size tires I'm going to run but it's gonna be between 265-275/70/17 I do know that there is guys here with 275 's that never did the upgrade
What do u guys think?

My truck handled like garbage with the stock UCAs after I lifted and aligned it. If you got the money then definitely upgrade.

The lifts with stock ucas tend to leave your tires with a \ / angle on them from front view. up graded uca bring them back to more l l position.

Did you aligned them before putting them on? Cause if not that could be the reason why

Yes I had the lift and stock UCAs for over 2 months and I had an alignment done with the stock UCAs. The alignment wasn't perfect but it was okay. I didn't think it was that bad until I got the LR UCAs and it handled so much better with the new UCAs.

How big is your lift? Up to a certain point your stock UCA's would be fine. I can't remember how big you can go before you upgrade. Maybe below 3"? Hopefully someone with more experience in lifts can confirm that.

i've got the toytec 3" on mine and it seems to ride fine. but i am planning on upgrading my UCA's sometime this summer.

How big is your lift? Up to a certain point your stock UCA's would be fine. I can't remember how big you can go before you upgrade. Maybe below 3"? Hopefully someone with more experience in lifts can confirm that.

You are probably going to want the new uca. My experience mirrored the poster aboves.

Its not a must but with Toy Ulti lift and LR UCA's- yeah big diff. Stock UCA did ok.
On a side note, look into the Pan hard bar-adjustable, my 4R needed it after the lift. It stopped the death wobble I'd get. Not cool ESP with my kids in the 4R.

Wheel spacers are for pushing your rim/tires out away from the uca/springs from rubbing. Depending on the type of lift you use, tires/rims might be to close.

After market uca's are to correct any alignment that cannot be corrected with stock uca's after lift.

I had a 3" spacer lift in the front w/ stock coils and shocks, no problem after alignment for 3 yrs. Changed to coil/ 885 lift 3" and then had alignment problems, to much \ /. So after market uca's took the \ / out to l l .

Had another alignment done after uca's and the best it has ridden in 3 yrs.
Hope this helps you out, everyone can make suggestion from what they have done/used and final results are. Sometimes on a rarity, things may not come out the same for you.

So reading this thread and a few others on the topic I have 2 questions: Is it ok to do just the UCAs and not the LCAs at the same time? Are there any other components that should be upgraded at this same time?

oljedi, I plan on doing what you have done. FJ on all 4, bilsteins set at 2.5 with a 1.5 spacer in the rear and was wondering this same question. I have been reading both some have upgraded the uca's and some have not, and am not sure what I should do.

Anyone with this same set up please give me your thoughts, I guess I could just do the lift and see how it feels.

I have the 2.5/1.5 Daystar kit. With stock UCA, could not achieve proper caster even with alignment. Thus there was a lot of "wandering" With SPC UCA, complete fixed it. Love it now.
