UGH, my bday gift to myself :(

So lastnight, after having dinner with some friends, I back into my garage and go too deep. I hit this big asz wooden shelf that is in my garage. I think the damage is minimal, but its still damage.... ;pissed:
I figure (hope) this is a semi easy repair, and shouldnt cost too much to have it fixed, but I have nothing to base that on.
What do you guys think?

i would describe it as a very shallow crack. Not structural, more cosmetic for sure... i was maybe going .5 mph

ill probably have it professionally done, as I have no experience with that (and want it to come out NICE )... im hoping it wont be tooo pricey. either way, the tractor lives on :guitar3:

yeah man, thats for sure.
its pretty minor really, I might pay 2 or 300 to have it done up proper.
I just hate damaging things of mine that I care about (truck and surfboards namely)

You could do the repair yourself for cheap with a fiberglass repair kit, or you could get one of the thousands of boat working guys in your area take a crack at it. Your going to need a new paint job on the top if you want it all to match.

Yeah, I know I could do it myself, I do alot of surfboard repairs, but I dont trust myself enough to work on the truck honestly.
I figure the paint would definitely be the most expensive part.... we'll see, Ill get some quotes someday

If it cracked the fiberglass, which it looks like, you have to basical cut it out (not literally) then apply new glass. I've never done that type of repair but I have messed with glass before and I hated it. Btw painting is not bad, it's all in the prep work and how clean everything is. The actually painting is easy but also easliy messed up depending on the type of paint used.

it is cracked, but VERY minimally.... i mean like maybe the top layer only. Hell, I would never trust myself to cut er up! lol, I think it'll be best addressed by a pro, for sure

Basically you sand away the crack, thats why I put not literally.

Edit: If it is ver shallow you could just sand away the crack and fill it in wilth a fiberglass body filler. Then take and smooth her out hit it with primer than what ever color you want.

Thanks for the info, Im pretty sure its sandable...since its shallow. I might (depending on repair quotes) tackle the glass work myself, but Id rather not The cap kinda needed a respray anyways, but that doesnt mean I have the cash to pay for it. I'll see how the quotes go and decide from there. Im glad it wasnt worse, and I think that shelf in my garage is coming down, fulk that thing.
