Ugly facia,agree?

Is it me or did toyota "ugly up" the front end of the 4runner for 2014 or do you like the new look better? I have struggled to really love the look of the latest version despite my respect for the brand and vehicle overall and now realize much of it has to do with the front end now that i have looked around on this site and saw a picture of a 2011 sr5 in white. In fact, i always buy white but is the 2011 white called pearl vs super white in 2014? The super white is very bright. I love the pearl but it only comes on the limited in 2014.

Agree. When it first came out I thought it was god awful ugly. Actually a good thing though. A guy on the street offered me $35,000 cash for my 2010 Trail with about $5000 of upgrades/mods. I was ready to pull the trigger until I saw the 2014. Then I thought "hell no"! I wouldn't be caught dead in a 2014. Now it's starting to grow on me but my buyer went and bought a 2014 so that option is gone and I really shouldn't be spending more money when I'm perfectly happy with my 2010.

If you really want the a/c seats and the wood dash, you're going to have to deal with the front end. If you don't like the super white and like the pearl, get the limited and get everything you want out of your next vehicle.

Uglied it up so much I sold my 97 (that I've owned since new) last Friday. I'm waiting on my 14 Trail prem to come in. Glutton for punishment I guess.

He's probably been told that at least 10 times by now. I'm not sure if he wants to buy a car or wants others to hold his hand throughout the entire process, lol.

I hate what the '14 looks like in pictures and every time I bring up the camera to snap a picture of mine I struggle to find a good angle where the TE looks nice on screen. The front end lift helped a bit, but still, it's a PITA to take pictures of it.

That being said though, in person I think the truck looks absolutely stunning and every time I open the garage doors I get all fuzzy inside seeing it show it's big bulldog grin to me.

This!!!^^^

I was getting my 2011 Tundra serviced at a Toyota dealer 500 miles from home. I went out front to have a smoke and was confronted by this SR5 (top).

It was like instant lust. No offense to their owners but I consider the 10-13 noses to look rather staid and boring with their faux bull bar shapes. Intellectually I know this is just a slight redesign of the nose, but just changing the look of the headlights, and those cheeky driving lights completely won me over. I ended up trading in the Tundra and driving back to the rig in a basic Trail Edition. It just looks more aggressive to me, in an unapologetic in your face sort of way. And thanks to pictures ChrisTheSwede posted I just had a Bilstein 2" leveling/lift kit installed. Chris here is what it looks like with the fronts set at 2" (middle).

And a bug shield even added some eyebrows to those new head lights (bottom). A set of Black Rock rims, and standard size General Grabber AT 2's by the end of the week, and I'm pretty much done getting it where I want it. I really like the new Shrockworks front bumper, but at the same time, I kind of hate to cover that "ugly facia". :p

I've always been a big fan of the new 2014 design. It looks more menacing looking at it head on. I really love the projector headlights too over the 2010-13 models. I've been fighting the urge to trade mine in for a 2014 Premium Trail.

Lord help me but it's growing on me. Good thing I can't afford one anyway.

Would somebody do something about those stupid sticking-out lense covers though? Horrible things.

I got. Kick out of the responses here, the ones where folks said they are beginning to like the new look and are resisting the temptation to buy one. Its always been interesting how many new veh role out that i really dislike before eventually coming around to like them more than the old. That hasnt happened here, so far but thw white one above is the one i keep coming back to. With tinted windows, a set of running boards and a lttle mud and it will prob look good.

I pulled some pics from a dealer site and have samples of silver, white and black. If my tahoe sells today, i,ll need to rush down and buy one, prob white. If it doesnt, i will have more time to warm up to it. I know a couple of smart posts have had enough questions from me but as someone who was 100 percent set on a tahoe, which is what i drive now, a z71, ive had to learn a lot on a short time on these vehicles and cant ignore the allure of a new 2014 runner for the price of a used 2010 or 11 tahoe without any tech ology pkg when sticking to a 33 to 35k budget. I only pay cash for cars, have for 20 yrs so writing a 45$ ck for a limited is not what i want to do

No, I don't agree. I think the Tahoe is a much uglier and expensive vehicle to maintain. They are good to park in the driveway, take it out once a month, pull a boat to the lake and back and put back up.
This version is just different from the 10-13 versions. Not ugly or pretty just different.

I just went back through your posts and, I mean this with all due respect: You should make your own decision, not us.

The Toyota website could have told you much more about the difference in the models and there are great websites out there on leasing vs. buying.

Good luck I hope you are happy buying new/used or leasing new a Limited/SR5/TE.

PS: Man your spelling is atrocious. Spell check is not that hard to use. You would get more help if people could read your posts.

Thats what I thought, but your bumpers look black all the way..

That's not a Trail in the picture. The Trail is the only model that comes with a fake hood scoop. Hence no gray skid bumper in the pic. That is probably an SR5 since I believe the Limited has a different nose.

1engineer, I've listened to. Your BS long enough that I'm finally going to say what I've neen thinking but have chosen to take the high road and largely ignore your nonesense. I have received a lot of good advice and input. In this process but you have consistently found a way to be. Negative and condescending. Go find something else to do. If you don't like my questions or posts, that's fine, don't read them and don't respond. You haven't offered anything useful so quit acting like a flame. Its really utterly ridiculous. Fortunately, forums like this are by and large constructive and helpful but There's always someone like you in the crowd.

Ps, yes, typing is poor, between the BB and or ipad, that's the way it goes.

1engineer is never helpful.

Also, nobody with a tablet or iPad is ever able to use correct spelling or punctuation or grammar. It's certainly not a sign of a lazy jackass that can't be bothered to do his own research or even proofread his posts, that'd be silly.

Good Luck

Have you ever thought that there would not be people like me if there weren't people like you? Think about it and read my post above again. I was only offering my opinion, which you solicited in your first post. The spelling comment was real though. "That's the way it goes?" That's the way it goes if you don't slow down and take the time to type correctly and put a little effort into it. Again, good luck and I hope you find a good vehicle.

Come on, everybody knows you can't spell properly on a cell phone let alone use proper grammar or punctuation. It just isn't possible.

I have to agree my first reaction was it was so ugly last fall it caused me to go ahead and buy my 2013 and not wait for the '14, but I will admit this is very common and looks tend to grow on people.
A great example if you're old enough to remember when the Dodge Ram pickup got its new face in 1994, people had extremely emotional reactions to it... but look at it today and it looks quite dull......
