Hi i've just got my 1996 V6 4runner and i'm hearing a sound on the rear right wheel when turning full lock. I jacked it up and there's no bearing play. It feels like the front end does when you're in 4wd drive and turn too hard if you know what i mean. Kind of vibration and grinding but not a metallic sound??
I checked the diff oil (it's LSD) and it's old and ugly and a good dribble came out which i guess means that it was overfilled or it has drawn in water. The breather was messy and there's old oil and dirt crud all around it and below on the diff housing.
When i had the right side jacked to check bearings i rolled it back and forth and felt a rumbling that wasn't present on the left side when repeating the same test.
any thoughts appreciated cheers
