There is a plastic piece that fits there. The reason for the opening is so that when you hook up a tow strap or chain it won't damage your valance

Not that I know of. I'd ask the toyota parts department the name of it and part number and then search online for it

It is called "Front Valence Panel, RH Plate" The part number is 53925-35020
There is a color code after that. It should be about $20-$30.

i like this idea. i have been sniffin' around for a '98 front bumper (i'm not too fond of the fat lip bumper), but i also want a grille guard. ALL IN DUE TIME.

Hold the phone! You want a 98 bumper?? Cause Ive been looking for the newer style bumper . . . yours to be exact. You do know the 98 doesnt have installed fog lights, right? I have a 98, and it is in pristine condition. Would do think about a trade?

that is one of the drawbacks. no fog lights. however i have none so it isn't that big of a deal. i haven't done too much research as to whether they're interchangeable. how would we orchestrate this trade?
