Umm Parking Ticket appeal?

fighting it will just postpone the time with which you have to pay.. give you more time to save up. yes you are legally in the parking spot but if that was the only spot left then the school is responsible for making parking accessible if you are required to pay for parking. yes it is a Dbaggy thing to do but it looks cool as hell and that's a rad picture. if you don't mind paying the fine I would do it everyday, lol. just make them put the ticket on your windshield next time.

next time park in the principles parking spot.

Fight it if you want but dont expect too much from a university board of appeals. I fought an infraction when I was in college 10-12 years ago where I had the school handbook in hand that clearly said I was in the right and they were wrong. Not only did the board uphold the infraction, they increased my on campus community service hours after the ruling Funny thing is the next time they printed up school handbooks that particular portion had been changed.


I ended up with the last laugh. I refused to do the community service since I was already scheduled to graduate. (and the fact that I was in the right) They told me I could walk but would not get a diploma. Well someone messed up and accidently sent mine to me in the mail. A week later I got a letter from the university stating that they made a mistake and WANTED ME TO BRING BACK MY DIPLOMA:lmao::focus:

I would fight it. here in idaho on campus snow kinda sucks, lots of it. and parking gets worse because you then cant see the lines so parking spots get gobbled up by blond girls in their cute little civics who manage to take 4 spots even tho their car is big enough to cover 2.

anyways. point of my story is people park on snow piles here all the time. i guess its accustom more here than there.

I don't see any violation according to university of Oregon.
I hope this helps I would fight it its a parking space and you parked within the lines. No law broken if they didnt state you cannot park on a snow pile or must have all 4 wheels on pavement. You my friend seem to be in a loophole. Maybe if ya win they will write something in there stating you can't do that haha you'll end up famous!

Ok so I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but I was at school today and I was looking for a parking spot....well I saw this this big pile of snow and ice and couldnt resist. Anyways whaen I came back out the campus PD was waiting for me. The d***** bag gave me a ticket for improper parking. I want to apeal it because I dont think it constitutes as improper parking but I cant find the legal definition for improper parking, thus my delima. So does anyone have any quotes or anything on what is improper parking?

So I appealed to the student unon rep this morning. I handed him a printed out picture of my truck parked on the ice (he laughed), read him this little paper I wrote and supplied him with a list of actual impropper parking places. I'm still waiting for their response.

For any of you interestested in the paper I wrote lol:





"I’m attempting to appeal my parking fine because I feel it was unwarranted and the officer failed to produce a reasonable explanation as to why I was given the ticket
According to the Department of Motor Vehicle Transportation, parking laws are intended to keep your car from being hit by someone else and to keep your car, truck, van, or motorcycle from putting others at risk.
My vehicle was in a parking lot, in a designated parking space. I was not in an area where my vehicle was in danger of being hit nor was I in a situation in which I could cause damage to surrounding vehicles. I parked evenly within the lines and was in no way impeding the flow of traffic. Additionally there were no vehicles parked in the vicinity of mine, thus I was not endangering property or other individuals.
The fashion in which I parked did not violate any motor vehicle restrictions. I have a valid OSU parking permit that allows me to park on campus and that is exactly what I did. “Improper Parking” is a well-defined violation; I believe that the campus officer may have broadened the meaning of his ticket in order to include my vehicle. Although unorthodox, my parking was completely legal. I urge you to reconsider fining me".

I'll admit, no matter how tempting it is, it's still a immature thing to do. I'm not saying I've never parked on something where my vehicle didn't belong, but I probably haven't done it since, well, college (where immaturity levels are not necessarily at an all time high). You may not have broke any laws but you're skating a fine line between legal vs illegal. If you feel you didn't do anything wrong law wise, then appeal it. Just be sure to have all the correct documentation to prove it.

As far as the slang for cop comment goes.. Have a little respect for the people who protect your country. I may not agree with all of their rules and antics but I'm sure as hell not going to call my grandma when I'm stuck inside a bank with armed robbers.

By your letter you should get the ticket. It could slip off and hit a car if there was one by you.

The "appeals" process for just about any college campus is pretty much a joke since you're not in any type of court of law. Typically you appeal to some type of student council representative, and/or faculty members, who pretty much have the power to do whatever they want with your appeal.

When I was in college, I parked my motorcycle on the concrete right next to one of the academic buildings. This was a common practice among those who rode motorcycles, and we parked in locations that did not impede pedestrian traffic or create any kind of safety hazard. In fact, parking where we did was encouraged by the faculty in order to free up parking spaces for other cars.

Well, some kampus-kop decided to write me a ticket one day for "improper parking". I appealed it. In my appeal, I quoted the student handbook where motorcycles were authorized to park on concrete surfaces, and I still lost the appeal. It didn't matter to the appeal board that I was completely in the right, they just got to keep my money. I was livid, but there was nothing I could do. I paid the fine and moved on.

Write this one off to 'youthful exuberance' and file under 'lessons learned'. You'll have something to tell your kids about someday, and a lesson for them too. (From a guy who learned plenty of lessons like this when he was your age [back when we still wrote on cave walls].)
