uncomfortable seat?

lovin my new 4runner except the seat part.
this is the most uncomfortable car seat i have ever had... and this is my 23rd car.
it hurts my butt and the space between the humps on the edges is too small so i'm sitting on the side humps - this hurts my hips.
any comments?
l'm sitting on a seat cushion and feelin stupid. plus it still hurts.

My comment is that I extensively test drove the vehicle before I bought it to make sure I wouldn't be bitching about things like seats.
No offense, but when I read consumer reviews and people say things like: "it doesn't accelerate well", "the controls are hard to use", "the steering is vauge", "the seats are uncomfortable". Shouldn't those things be looked at and considered before plunking down the big bucks :rant: ? Wasn't the seat uncomfortable during the test drive?
OK, enough ranting from me.

I saw a couple of posts a while ago about the seat not working for some folks. I'm not sure what others have done, but I would do a search and see what you find. Good luck.

I had the dealer install leather. They looked fine from a support/comfort perspective. The leather quality was not as nice as my wife's 04 Murano's. Now that I have 8000 miles in the seat(I'm 6-3 195) it isn't very supportive. Mine sucks enough that I've decided to have it worked on.

it suits me well, being a 170#'er, 5 ft 8in.

Mine is comfortable to me, 215 and 5'8". We do have the Liqui-Cell leather seats though, so they are oh so uber comfortable. Might think about that, but I'm sure they would be killer expensive......

Have you searched for maybe some custom fitted leather seat covers with a gel pad in the seating area? Or maybe have an upholstery shop reshape the foam a bit to accomodate your posterior???

it suits me well, being a 170#'er, 5 ft 8in.

The Liquid cell is around $1500 that is what mine has and yes it is oooohhh so comfy

I got use to mine. But on long trips it sucks. Like you I hated it when I first got mine, just could not get comfortable. Finally found a decent position and left it. I really don't drive mine much so maybe that is why its okay.

I could not imagine commuting in the thing though. The wore out seats in my Frontier are way more comfortable than the 4Runner.

When I first got my 4Runner it took me a while to get the seat adjusted right. I was so used to driving pickup trucks where you sit more upright, my leg position felt wrong. I finally put the front as high as it will go and the back more down, so I sort a sink into it. I find it very comfortable in that position. I am 5'4" 115 pounds. I understand something hurting your hips, I've had it happen to me when sleeping on an uncomfortable bed. I sympathize with you because I know how bad it hurts. I hope you find a solution.
