Under headlight air intake

Does anyone know where to source one of these pieces in the picture? The piece that goes under the headlight and provides air to the intake?

I've only seen it on JDM 4runners

I like the idea, if ya put a filter in before it hits the stock filter, might be ok. wonder how much they are

same here but i have a feeling if they are like most JDM (Japanese Domestic market) parts they will be expensive.
 
probley.. I did something close to that on my 99, but I used a funnel, then tubing towards the airbox, talk about GHETTO lol but mine was in the lower grill, couldnt tell any difference, so after about a few months I removed it.

Nice! thanks for the translation! A litttttle expensive though....how many of you are gonna start working on your own??

I know I'm going to get a fiberglass mat and some resin tomorrow....

If it comes out good, I'll make a mold and sell them for half price, free shipping hahaha
 
theres a guy that was on here about a year ago that did this. said it helped him get more rich, cold air to his intake since he had the trd supercharger. not sure if it makes that much of a difference.

all he did was cut 4 symmetrical holes in that small metal piece thats under the headlight, added some rubber grommets to protect the openings, cut away some of the metal under the headlight, and ran some piping right to his air intake to get the fresh air inside.
 
I can get these for you guys and yes, they are expensive. Remember, it doesn't come with anything else but those pieces. You will have to attach your own hoses/piping and route them to the airbox to get the extra air...
 
I would think you would have to put some sort of filter on there. I can't imagine bugs being all that great for the combustion process :nono:

Just a little help with the translation.

FRP is "fiberglass reinforced plastic", so though it sounds like it is made by a company called FRP, I think what it is trying to say is that is it is made OF FRP. I could be wrong.

I am with you Ric, this is cool, but way, way down on the list of things I would spend $200 on.

Well I doubt you're supposed to route it downstream of the filter, I'm assuming you would bring it into the airbox in the pre-filter space. If true, it would make me wonder if these would really do anything at all.

I wouldn't mind having just one on the passenger side to get slightly cooler air around my filter, but I also think it would allow water in. Maybe it's just an aesthetic thing, like the Tahoe I saw yesterday that had a cowl induction emblem on his hood :confused:
