Undercarriage\Running Board lights

I would like to add some undercarriage lights to the running boards. However I like the control of the overhead lights, where they turn off soon after closing the door or start the engine. My question is how to tap into this circuitry? The lights will draw more power than adding the Map lights Mod, as discussed earlier, so I realize a relay will need to be added. So my question is: can I using the wire in the drivers side windshield pillar as a control wire for a added relay to turn the undercarriage lights on/off ? Or am I not thinking this thru. I currently do not the top/side factory running board lights option. However if the wiring is alreadly in place then this would be good?

interesting....I am probably going to end up painting my black boards silver like the limited boards and will likely add some kind of lighting as well...i'm interested to see some replies from people who have tapped the stock interior lights...
