Undercarriage rust (pre-sale question)

Looking to buy another 4Runner . . . driving to Pittsburgh to see it tonight. No holes in the frame, but what do you think?

Looks about right to me, not to bad for a 2003 that's live in PA all its life. Would like some second/third opinions though.

while it doesn't look like a tap of a hammer would collapse the frame, that 1st picture on the rear axle is pretty concerning to me.

then again, i'm not from a rust state so I don't know what is considered past the 'acceptable' rust threshold as a buyer.

i would post in the 4th gen section with the question and call out rust belt members in the thread title. the reason I advise this is different gen's sometimes are prone to rust at different areas of the underside.

No. Really the rust isn't too bad.

It looks better than mine and it's an 08. Just clean it up and paint it.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Being from CT, that doesn't look bad. I paint the bottom of my truck once a year in the Spring.

No seeing any holes doesn't mean theres not serious frame rust.
They rust from the inside out and you don't see it until its really bad.

I looked for a 3rd gen for about a year. I looked at many in the Maryland area and some had frames in much worse shape that what you have there. Looks good to me.
