Uniquely Equipped 2007 4Runner

I saw a 2007 4Runner that did not have a trailer hitch installed. I thought trailer hitches were standard equipment on 4th gen as I have never have seen a 4th gen without one.

It's not like the owners removed the hitch as the bumper did not have a cut-out on the bottom where the hitch normally protrudes through.

In 2006, Toyota made the tow hitch optional on V6 models, which is probably what you saw. V8's still come with one standard as do all 2003-2005 V6's.

I've got a 2007 SR5 that did not come with a trailer hitch, so I don't think they're standard on all models. I wish it was b/c I like the look of the stock hitch, but haven't gone out and actually purchased one yet.

my tow hitch looks like its a integral part of the reinforcement bar as its welded directly on the frame. If i get rear ended, i would be f**ked as its not something that can be unbolted and another piece bolted on.
