I'm curious to know what people across the country think about this movie. Is it too soon? Will you see it?
To help clarify some of the rumors, this is what I know about it, mostly from reading a few articles in Time, etc. about it . . . .
The cast is full of unknowns, purposefully so, as to not to have "famous actors" detracting from the importance of the story, according to the production staff.
The movie is shot in real time.
Obviously certain assumptions had to be made about exactly what occured on the flight. Remember that many cell-phone calls were placed that the movie staff had access to which were used to try to make the story as accurate as possible.
Thanks to the Moussaoui trial and the release of audio tapes, we now know that in the final moments of the flight the passengers had not yet broken into the cockpit but were about to, and because of this the hijackers flew the plane into the ground.
-As far as anyone knows this was not known by the movie staff, so without having seen the movie yet I don't know if they accurately "guessed" how things ended, or if they perhaps avoided the issue directly by not showing the last minute or so.
Each and every family of the passengers were contacted and they all gave their approval for the movie. In addition, the movie staff took time to talk to the families to try their hardest to accurately portray each of the passengers, even down to what they were wearing that morning.
I personally plan on seeing the movie tomorrow (Sat. night). I'm not sure how to explain this, but I almost feel "obligated" to go see the movie, as though I "owe" it to the passengers and their families, even if the ending details (i.e. passengers getting into the cockpit) aren't accurate.
