Unscheduled diff dunk

Yesterday on a kayakin trip, I had to ford the river in my Runner. I've not done the diff breather mod and think I outta drain n refill my diffs just in case. If theres water in them, what other than draining can I do to dry them out before I refill?
Never thought I'd need the diff breather mod and beyond going to this river again, don't know If I ever will.

Thanks

I've never done this myself, but I am familiar with motors going under, etc (on motorcycles)

IMO, its going to cost you. I'd drain it. If it looks milky in any way, I'd put cheap diff oil in and run it for a few hundred miles, then dump it right after a drive while the fluid is still suspended (remember, oil floats).

Then if it looks clean fill with oil of your choice.

You have to get all the water out of the diff as soon as possible. That's the important one. Don't leave it for a month.

If it looks good coming out (consistency/viscosity is the same, no milkyness, etc) I would assume you made it through without water getting in and just do a precautionary oil change.

Get a diff extension on there if you plan on doing it again.
