Up Date on my new 4Runner

Just got a phone call from the dealer, telling me that my preference order has been forwarded and received in Japan. Build order is in Que, and the dealer should have it by the middle of January.

The dealer said if I want to, they will let me see it come off the delivery truck at the dealer with all the plastic and protective coverings on it. They said that winter deliveries are so filthy that sometimes you don't even know the model or color till they wash it. Sure hope they have that rebate going on in January. My region for November $1000 rebate right now.

Even though it is going to to built just for me, I am not allowed to specify the brand of tire I want. It gets whatever it gets at the time I was told. I really want the Micheline cross terrain, but I bet they put the cheaper Bridgestone tire on it.

Maybe you could ask the dealer to swap tires with another vehicle if you don't get the tires you want. Don't know if they would do it but asking never hurts

Congratulations on your order. I know what you're going through, and even though I've had my truck for six months now, I still occasionally drive to the dealership and check out the new models that have arrived (like I did weekly during my long wait).

My 06 Limited came with Michelins while the SR5 and SE models had the Bridgestone tires. I'll check out the 07s that are now on the lot. I'm sure if the current 07 Limited's have Michelins, yours will too.

I got to watch my truck come off of the delivery truck just because of fortunate timing. Once the truck was in port, I knew it was being delivered, and I knew it usually took 10-14 days to go across country. When it was offloaded from the train and was placed on a truck in Memphis (400 miles away), then I knew delivery was imminent.

Here it is when it arrived on the truck:

I'm very happy for you and share in your excitement. What an awesome belated Christmas present!

Please let me know which tires the Limiteds are getting. Dealers in my area just have the base and sport models.

The 07 model is the only year in the 4th generation cycle that not a single improvement was made. That has got to make the 06 owners happy. Plus just my luck. It never fails me to have things always improve massively the year after I buy anything. Something big is going to happen in 08. You heard it here first.

Yeah, but you will have the pleasure of driving your new 4Runner for an entire year before the 08s arrive, and if it's truly a BIG improvement, you will probably be able to do a mod to your 07 and add it on. And wouldn't you hate to waste an entire year waiting for the 08s, only to find no significant change for them either? Remember, the glass is half-full, not half-empty!

expect major changes, probably in 09. As of now, ENJOY it. The waiting process is the most exciting. Once you have the car, it slowly fades away..........:bonk:

Atomic, I like the no rear spoiler look. Wish I did'nt have one. The only good thing that my rear wdw. seems to stay pretty clean. My Tahoe did not have a rear spoiler and the rear wdw. was always full of crap. Still rather not have it on the 4R.

Just curious as to why you don't have, want or like the rear spoiler?

I think the spoiler makes the vehicle look less boxy from behind, and the brake light on the spoiler looks really nice.

Yes, i also think the spoiler does keep the dirt off the rear window. But it's a pain to clean it when you wash ur car.

On this vehicle, it looks good w/spoiler cuz it gives a bigger third stop light, but unlike the GX, it's about the same size light so i opt for a GX w/o spoiler. Plus GXs at my time (Dec 02, jan 03) never had options for a spoiler or chrome tip, or chrome wheels.

The rear spoiler was one of the options I didn't want, and it was worth the 5 month wait to get my truck the way I want it. I will admit the spoiler probably keeps the back window a bit cleaner, but mine doesn't get so dirty that I can't see out of it. We have a rear window washer if it gets too dirty, so the spoiler just isn't that important to me.
