Updated Pics + Trip Report

I got to thinking and I realized I haven't posted any pics of the new setup. Right now I'm riding on 5100's with FJ coils in the front (3rd notch, gained 2.25" lift) and Bilstein HD's in the rear with my rear air system adjusted for ~1" lift. Although I just switched to this setup, I'm still not happy with the way the rear rides. I'm about to swap out the OEM air system out, haven't decided for sure to what yet. I'm leaning towards 5100's in the rear with Toytec Superflex coils. If I can pass it by the wife, I'll probably go with a full Overland Warehouse 2.0 kit.

And that leads me to the trip report. We got married last month and went on about a 2000 mile trip. I did the usual pre-trip checks/maintenance, and everything went great. My 4runner is at 155k miles, very pleased with how everything went. Wasn't a super long trip, but still long enough I would have been nervous in previous vehicles. While on the trip I was able to snap a few pics, so here they are.

About time you swap out the rear air system! :bravo: Ive got 5100's and superflex coils sitting in my shed, just waiting for the 285's and a day off to put them in. I think its gonna be a great set up.

As mine's a daily driver and doesn't see a ton of off road usage, I'm unsure on tire size as of yet, but I'm planning something bigger next time (will be a year or longer, won't do anything till these wear out). I'm looking at either 275's or 285's. We'll see when the time comes, right now I just want my suspension done. I've dealt with issues with the RAS for a while now. I've went through four sets of rear shocks trying to find something that rides decent, nothing will with those bags back there.

Great pics, looks awesome. So how was the MPG on the trip, we know you calculated it ;-)

Haha, yep, every time I fill up it gets punched into an app on my Droid. We did a ton of city driving and averaged about 17 mpg. On the way there/back I averaged 19.5-20 mpg. Both are calculated and corrected for the larger tires.

Thanks, congrats to you also! I've just gotta decide how serious I want to get with it. I keep thinking I'll build my 87 for a off road vehicle, but the more I think about it the more I'd rather just have my 03 where I could hit some trails with it, hence really considering the OW kit.

Whats up man. I was just about to send you a PM asking if you had ever got the suspension installed. Can't wait to see it. I've already changed mine Ha. Add rear DS 1.5" spacer to correct lean and put on a set of 285/60/18s....looks so much better than the 265s, fits flush with the wheel well, and doesn't rub at all.. :bigok:

I feel your pain about wanting to go bigger but dealing with the whole tires are still good/too big to be economical concern. My solution was a friend who wanted to ditch his 285/60 Zeon LTZs. I'm already dreading having to go back to the 265s ha.

That's good. I just averaged 20 mpg myself with my lift and tires over a short 400 mile road trip this weekend.
