Updating Forum Version

I am not sure if this is the right place for this, but I was wondering if the site manager (T4R.org) has thought of updating the vBulletin version. The upgrades should be no cost. I see that T4R.org is running 2.2.8.
They are now on version 3.5.4.
Just wondering, because there are some newer features and also lots of updating. Like I said, I was just wondering.

We did consider the new version. However, this version is simpler to use and has less bugs.

But since you brought it up, i will talk to Gatorgreg about it.

Thanks.

I wasn't trying to force anything. I was just curious. But tgey say curiosity killed the cat:cannon: :awais:

just a way to 'mark all forums' read would be great... i think there is one but i can't find it..

and if i 'mark forum read' it should return me to the top, and not back to the forum i just 'marked as read'

yea!

new versions are fun! maybe one with live chat or something? so we can all shoot some S in real time!

When you click on a forum, at the right, above the "last post" column, and under the new post button there is a link that says "mark this forum read"

Ah, but software is always broke. There is no such thing as bug free code. And new stuff is always fun as thatsricci said.

I don't know about the bugs the newer software may introduce, but several of the other forums I visit are running newer versions without any problems I've noticed. From a user perspective, I like several of the features available on newer versions that are missing on T4R.

It's on the forum home page on the lower right. Scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see it.

Agreed, vBulletin messages forums have been at V3.x.x for over a year now. V3.6 is in advanced beta testing right now. I'm running V3.5.4 on one of my own sites. The software is very stable. Jelsoft puts out a great product and is continually enhancing it. I highly recommend upgrading the forums here ! :bigok:

vBulletin is not free to upgrade unless the powers-that-be here have maintained their license ($30/year).

Might also consider upgrading the Photopost gallery software too - it's got quite a few new features since the 4.x.x line a few years ago.

We run 3.5 over on my forum
www.caraudiocentral.net and have a ton of hacks installed.

It's been very stable, and we've been pretty happy with it. Actually I can't think of any bugs that we've encountered?

One thing you could do is setup a test forum, with 3.5 and give it a try and see if you like it.

It has a bunch of new moderation features that make merging/closing threads ect much easier for you.

Oh, and the plugin/hook feature makes installing hacks a snap!!! The modifying code templates ect is almost gone now.

Have you mentioned it to him?
