Upgrade from 2004 4Runner to 2000 Land Cruiser?

I have a 2004 4Runner Limited with 175,000 miles. I love it, and its running great, but I'd like something bigger, so the Land Cruiser seems like the natural choice.

They're just so expensive, so I thought I'd get one with some "experience" on it. I've seen a couple of 2000 Land Cruisers with about 100,000 miles on them.

Can anyone tell me what I can expect going from a 2004 4Runner Limited to a 2000 Land Cruiser?

Ive thought about making that move several times! Since your already used to the same drivetrain, expect it not to feel as "Sporty" at all. It won't have the same amount of pep, or as nimble obviously because of the size and weight difference. Other than that the 100 series is a great platform and are bulletproof.

I don't remember off the top of my head I think it was 02-04ish when the newer interior was put in and I prefer them so make sure and check em out. Good Luck!

if you're needing the space I would definitely make the move. but as my personal preference i like the late 80s land cruiser it had the 4.7 v8 and you can find them with a manual trans.they were/are a tank

I believe the V-8 didn't become available until '98. Not sure, could be later.

I used to drive a 2001 Land Cruiser. It's a nice truck, but it is different from the 4Runner. It has a nice plush ride, much nicer than the 4Runner, and the interior and cargo space is very roomy. The downside is the V-8 is a little underpowered for it's weight. Also the gas mileage is abysmal at best. Like 11-12 city. 15 hwy if you keep it stock and below 75mph. 1998-2002 had the 4-speed and 16" wheels. 2003+ has the 5-speed and 18" wheels.

I liked everything about the truck except the gas mileage and occasionally the size. We have a mini-van for the big trips so I didn't need a huge V-8 gas guzzler for my daily commute, hence why I got my 2006 V6 4x4 SR5 4Runner.

um... no v8s did not come in LC untill the 100 series in 98.

and really hundys are not that much more than 4th gens, they are right around the same price range... im looking to make the move to a hundy when i find the right one, either that or a 1st gen sequoia 4x4. the only think i do not like about hundys is the torsion bar front suspension, it limits the amount of lift you can put on them with out serious mods.

I test drove a 2001 LC when we were shopping for a Runner for the wife and I gotta say, it was very nice!! very smooth plush ride, but still felt nimble enough.

But like someone else said, I'd look at the Sequoia as well. Test drove a few of them as well and although they're bigger, it's a nimble vehicle for it's size. It drives smaller than it looks, it that makes sense.

Can't really go wrong either way. We ended up getting her a 4Runner due to the amount of miles she drives and we really couldn't justify the size.

well i had to look it up and am slightly embarrassed. but i have seen several 60 series 87s and 88s with the 4.7 but oviously didnt come that way. thanks for the info
