I, too, bought a '21 ORP because I was worried about what the next gen would be. I'd rather buy an end-of-life model than a new model/iteration and deal with all the headaches.

Then he made a good decision buying the old model. The real question is, what if the new one is amazing?

New came out about changes to multimedia system. Processor is 5x faster with possible emphasis on larger infotainment screen.

This new multimedia system will definitely NOT be in a 2022 4Runner!
Toyota won't make such a major change for the last model year as the 6th generation is supposed to be introduced later in 2022 as 2023 MY.
Of course the way things are going with Toyota they might wait another few years before releasing a 6th gen

I had same decision to make but new 4R isn't out till 2023 and from what I heard from dealer its a hybrid and I'm not interested in them or turbos. So I ordered my new Venture on May 1 and got it on the 28th. Very happy with it.

The next 4runner isn't coming out until 2023, so there's that. If you want comfort, economy and tech (you allude to that), you are looking at the wrong vehicle. My favorite is the Limited trim (no mods), but even I will admit the highlander is a superior car for taking the family on long trips.

With owning a 2019 4runner and driving the mom in laws 2020 highlander, I can definitely agree with you on this!!

Ill be holding off till next gen model, would like a twin turbo v6 :wow: but unlikely. 23 model would be nice if using the next gen infotainment center.

Next car likely 23/24 4runner, tundra or sequoia.

I built the 17 to how we like it and love the ride. The headlights were probably the best upgrade so far
17 sr5 prem with the following mods:
trd pro suspension, trd skid plate, 2021 LED head & fog lights, trd pro wheels, blacked out

I want to buy. but with this market it’s not worth. So if the new model is for 2023. It’s not that far off like it sounds. It would be ready for preorder and on the lots at the end of 2022. So I will wait a little longer in case any news comes out. I’m feeling once the new tundra comes out. Toyota might reveal some news on future models including the 4Runner.

Bought my 2021 as I am skeptical about the 6th gen.
Plus, first years = lots of kinks to work out.

That's why I went with the 2021 as well!
