Upgraded Spider Gears

I recently chipped and cracked several teeth on the spider gears in my front diff which also trashed the ring gear and most likely the bearings. I have tracked down a new front diff to go in but while I have everything apart Id like to see about upgrading the spider gears to help prevent this from happening again but I can't find a stronger set or even a replacement stock set anywhere.

Ideally, Id just put an arb in the front which I will do someday but I can't afford it right now since I'm putting one in the back. Any ideas?

Install the new front diff and take it a little easier on the throttle when in 4x4. That is about the best advice I can give. Also good luck with the IFS axle swap. I did mine in my garage (and I have a pretty good tool set) with plenty of help. I swore if I ever have to pull that axle again I will pay a shop to do it.

I'm already really easy on the throttle on 4x4 which is why I still don't get how it broke in the first place. It's not like I was just letting it wheel hop and just putting my foot in it but I guess I'll have to see what I can do. It's frustrating that Yukon makes forged spider gears for every Toyota diff except this one.

I'm not too worried about the able swap, I pulled the one in the junk yard in an hour without any issues. That truck didn't have the motor in it though so we'll see

There might be a place that would cryo treat your spider gears.

What [MENTION=148218]JZiggy[/MENTION] said. Not that expensive, I've used Cryo in other gearbox
applications under more severe use, made a difference.
