Been a while since I've posted. Im graduating college in may and was really planning to get a new truck. Unfortunately, insurance decided they wanted to ram it up the poop chute bc of my not so great driving record, so ill be keeping the runner. With this being said, some upgrades are definitely needed. Prob mostly mods. Asking to see exactly where you guys think I should spend my money. Most I'm looking to spend is $2000. Heres my plans so far. Suggestions wanted. Drive an 04 Gold runner with BFG Tako on it. 3/2 spacer lift

--New radio (brand/type??)
-- New Headlamps (Mine are badly fogged)(Should I do HIDs Ive had them before, even on my other runner, but not looking to deal with the BS that comes with them when they decide to crap out)
--Removing a few small dents and a good detail

Head unit: Pioneer or Alpine - I have a Pioneer Nav. Unit that I love since it serves all of my needs. However it is a discontinued model but it still works great for me. If you don't mind shopping for used head units then check out AVIC-Z110BT. Looks very sleek and OEM looking - consider speaker door upgrades *AFTER YOU LISTEN TO YOUR AUDIO SYSTEM THROUGH NEW HEAD UNIT*. For some people they are satisfied with their audio system after the stock radio is replaced with the head unit...but of course there are those who are considered audiophiles and would want to have even better sound

Headlamps: I would take it to a local body shop or a business that can restore head lights before you replace anything If you really want to replace them - I would look into the mod of using '05-'09 headlights. I'm pretty sure you can put them in an '04

body work: Definitely shop around for quotes - try looking into reputable body shops in your area before you visit the dealership. It's hard to see what your definition of a small dent is so you should not expect to spend more than $600 total including labor to correct minor dents and scratches

Detail: You mentioned getting a detail...I strongly recommend the interior to be completely detailed if you do end up purchasing protection liner mats from WeatherTech/Husky. That way it will be easier for you to maintain the 4Runner's interior

Suggested ideas:
  • Window Tint $(100-$400) *Dependent on how many windows / if windshield is included
  • WeatherTech / Husky floor mats ($100-$400 depending on order)
  • Dash Camera to protect yourself when dealing with insurance (Plenty of dash cams out there but I have two $96 cams I use for my 4Runner and my girlfriend's Ford. ($50-$350 [expect $350 for 2-chan dash cam systems]
  • Donate the rest of $ to me so I can use it toward MY mods ;)
