Upgrading fog lights

I have TruView ultra white high beams, low beams and fogs on my 03. Do yellow fogs really improve visibility in bad weather that much?

If I change to Hoen Endurance yellow fogs, what is the correct bulb number?

No, yellow lights do not improve visibility, nor do they penetrate fog, rain or snow better than white. I have yellow PIAA 510's and I notice in blinding snow the yellow simply produces less eye fatigue when driving. On snow covered roads there is less glare off the surface.

Re: fogs

Thanks for the feedback Rook. My wife and I love Maine and have had a few awesome trips. By the way, your avatar is a real "shocker."

I have over 35 years of driving and have typically driven about 30 miles one way to work on some pretty nasty back roads, often at night in nasty fog, rain +/or snow. I can honestly say that the lower temperature bulbs have proven (to me) that the more yellow bulbs provided much better contrast in that weather. You won't see farther but you WILL be able to distinguish the road edges (which is why the projectors in fog lamps give a short, wide pattern). I've been running Hella Optilux XY lamps (2500K if I recall) in all of my vehicles for the past 4-5 years and am much happier with them then the 5000k I tried and the stock ~3500k bulbs.

Good point on the contrast between the yellow light and the snow. I agree, I actually like the yellow more in the snow (not yellow snow) than any other time.
