upgrading the radio 3rd Gen vs 4th Gen

So, here is what I would like to do:

Install an aftermarket 6.2" display unit that has Multimedia DVD Receiver with WVGA Display, Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, Built-in Bluetooth®, HD Radio™ Tuner, SiriusXM-Ready™ and AppRadio Mode+.

Because the 3rd Gen radio location is lower (by 3 - 5 estimated inches) on the central dash panel than a 4th gen, does this cause a viewing problem? It is not as much a "Heads Up" display as the 4th Gen is.

Also, could a 4th Gen center panel be switched to a 3rd Gen and all of the control wiring (HVAC, etc) be changed?

I know - lots of questions here, :gun4: but where else do I ask them? :loco:

Thanks,

Bob

It is annoying how low the radio is. I put a 2013 Corolla NAV unit I my 97. Looking at it is annoying at times.

Is it a visibility (hard to read) issue or a touch screen access issue or all of these and more, lol?

Kinda what I was thinking.
But, if by changing the center rack from a 4th Gen, could that solve the problem?
Just wondering out loud.

Probably a boatload of customization would be required to even make the two HVACs shake hands, probably not worth it and probably won’t find anyone who would even want to try.

An external tablet with a swivel mount would be the answer. Someone posted one recently in the “What did you do today” thread.
