Upgrading to the 06+ headlights

Hi,

I have an 04, and I'm going to upgrade to the 06+ projector headlights. But was wondering, if anyone knew of any places online that sell the trim piece that goes under the lights? I was hoping to find them already painted in the Silver/titanium color too. I was thinking maybe some online wrecking yards maybe? Bu I'm not even sure what that piece is called.

But has anyone seen them for sale anywhere, and know about how much they cost?

Are you aware that there will be some gaps between the headlights and your grille? It doesn't look so bad on a black 4Runner, but it is more noticeable on the lighter colors.

Ya I knew about the gap, and the couple pics I've seen on here I really didn't even notice it. It almost looked like it was supposed to be that way. So I don't think it would bother me.

Now just hope I can find some already painted

It's called a filler panel, I got mine for toyotapartszone.com. They shipped them painted to match factory color, I think they were $38 apiece.

If your paint code is 1D4 then yes I would say so, I ordered the white (056 is my paint code) and it matched.

Next have to find some headlights. did you get yours off ebay? Or somewhere else?

What did you pay for your lights? I'm seeing any that don't have broken tabs are around 120-150 each.

Yeah I got mine on eBay, both are OEM but it was 2 separate auctions.. each of mine has one broken tab. I got lazy and never put the 4th bolt back in my headlights once and they never shook or rattled so I just decided if it would save me $50 per light I'd give it a shot. I got mine for ~$110 total shipped.

One was $80 shipped, the other was $70 shipped but it had a 2nd broken tab so I got $20 back. I have an old set that is no good so I just cut the tab off of that one and jb welded it on.

Good OEM lights w/o broken tabs are prolly gonna be as much as you're seeing.

what tab are broken on yours? Just wondering if there are certain tabs that can be "ok" if they are missing. I'll look out for those on Ebay.

ive got one with a broken top tab, just installed a metal bracket to hold it in place, its been fine since.

One side has the long tab on the outside looking down on the headlight broken, the other has the tab that connects under the bumper missing. The one under the bumper is fine, but I want to try and fix the top one. Both are firm and don't move driving, but I can wiggle the one with the broken top tab just a little bit if I try with my hand

So went out and found the paint code

it says Titanium LB12

So that doesn't match the code on the filler panels, I guess I'll have to email them and find out for sure it will match.

You can get it from Conicelli for 29.62 each side.

I have the 2006+ projectors because it came w/ the vehicle, but if I didn't have it, I wouldn't bother getting them.

Because they are expensive, the projection isnt that great & the beam pattern isn't sharp.

I would do a retrofit. I've done a TSX projector retrofit on a Lexus SC300 before.

And I'm sure you want them to look OEM like nothing was done to it...I'm the exact way!!

My '06 projectors work pretty nice with the HIDs, they have a very sharp cut off (after I bent the squirrel finder shield or whatever)

I debated a retrofit but decided the cost of the retrofit was so much higher than the '06 housings.

If these start to bother me for some reason I'll retrofit them since there is a direct kit available but I don't see it happening. I'm very impressed with pattern & cutoff I have now.

I have about $150 in my housings ($210 w/ grille), the retrofit was going to be at least $350, plus I would've had to do the retrofit myself and worry with alignment. I also wouldn't have gotten the updated look of the '06 lights & grille.

So still trying to find some lights at a good price.

If the bottom tab is broken, it seems to mount OK without it? Doesn't move or rattle?

I guess if a tab was to be broken, which one is acceptable?
