Upholstery/seat covers?

Hey all,
I have a pretty decent sized rip in the driver seat of my 98 4runner. I was looking on the web at seat covers and upholstery. I couldn't really find a good estimate on upholstery pricing and it seems like the only seat covers that are actually custom fit are ridiculously expensive. I found some pretty cheap "universal" covers but I highly doubt they would actually fit nice. And I really don't want to have to spend an entire paycheck on seat covers. I figure sewing up the rip and maybe patching it would be good for now, but it's in an awkward spot and who wants a fat ugly patch on their seat? Anyways, if anyone has any recommendations or maybe some old seat covers laying around I would definitely be interested in buying.(black preferred)

PS: it's an SR5 so seats are cloth.

The only nice ones that ive seen/heard of are "wet okeole" or something like that. They are awesome and look better than factory. You can customize the colors too. The only thing is they are so damn expensive. Something like $200 bucks

Yea I did actually see those. They look super nice but a little out of my price range. Oh well I'll just have to save up.

I got mine at a local stereo place. They are called GT covers. had them on for a while and show little to no wear. costom formed to the seats so they look and fit very well. Here is there website. HIGHLY recommended!

I just clicked on that and it says mine would be the GL4 Tan ( 96-02 Toyota 4Runner LIMITED ONLY Front Buckets ) Item # T510 but, what gets me is the headrests, they don't look like the ones I have.. Is that just for illustration purposes?

I would think so, they are all exact fit and those are the ones i got. they fit great.

Hmm, Then I think I may pull the trigger, I was quoted roughly about that much to fix a tear in the driver's leather so this may be a good alternative..

Even though I may end up giving the 4runner to my daughter so she can learn in it. :roadkill: :crybaby: I know, I know....

Sheepskin covers work great and enhance the comfort of your worn seats. Thousands of airline pilots use them...they can't all be wrong. You can pretty much spend as much or as little as you wish to, depending on hide quality and features...

I have a 99 sr5 with tan seats. I am in the process of replacing all of the seat covers with an unused oem set that I picked up on ebay. I also picked up a passenger seat (for the seat cushion foam) at a pick-a-part. To make a long story short.

When I'm done I will have 2 passenger seat covers available. Mine and the one from the pick-a-part seat. It looks like you could easily use these on the drivers side. You would have to make a hole for the lumbar lever and you would end up with a little pocket on the left hand side of the seat cover.

Don't know if these will match the patterns in your 98 SR5 but if you're interested (or anyone else for that matter) shoot me a PM.

Anyways, I decided to go with some cheap universal covers from walmart lol. They actually look like they will fit when I measure them to the seats and they look super comfortable as well. It might take some fiddling but I will try to put them on this evening or tomorrow at some point. For 20 bucks I'm not really expecting anything amazing but we will see... Oh they are also black covers and I have a tan interior. I think that would look awesome. I'll take pics once it's done or let you guys know that it was a failure. Wish me luck! =)

oh nice thanks thats good to know. i didn't even think to try there (thought it was stereo only). did they install them for you as well? probably wouldn't be too hard to do, but free installation is always good.

i had a mixup with the ones i got at walmart, so it might be postponed for another day or 2 till i get to try them out. i opened the package and there was only one seat cover, and it wasn't even the one i looked at in the store. so ill have to do an exchange and try to get it done another day =(

I just got them there, they probably would have installed them but it wasnt worth it. Plus it wasnt that hard putting them on. Just a two person, 30min job.
