upper ball joint removal failure

So I started with wanting to do some pm on a 4runner I bought a few weeks ago and wanted to start with the lbj. Decided the ubj was toast as well so I wanted to fix t at the same time. Problem was that this 4runner is pretty rusty and so many thing were stuck. First ubj came out fine but on the right ubj my bfh had a little too much behind it and I cracked my knuckle/spindle. Here is a pic of my mistake, looks like I am on the hunt for a new one now :bash:. I want to start wheeling/camping next weekend but I will be down for a week or so now.

How does one tell if you need a new steering rack? I want to do bushings while I do inner/outer arms with the ball joints but there is no sense if my rack is a problem too. My brakes are shot. Going with big brakes at the same time.

look for leak with your steering rack and for now do bushings. i have replaced everything on the front except the steering rack and bushings and my steering is pretty tight honestly

Thought I should post a few more pics of my new 4runner.

Spray some WD-40 (big blast bottle) to take care of your rust.

Is your truck missing front skid plate? Remember without the skid plate, the lower radiator tank is open to road debris/stones... and will destroy your radiator and eventually your motor by overheating.

Plates are removed for auto tran cooler install and for the front end work I am doing right now. They will go back on after work completed. Too bad this all is going to cost me too much all at once or I'd buy some beefier ones.
