Well this mod has been sitting around for awhile so I figured it was time to install it. The install was something of a adventure really as far as I know only Gadget has this particular mod on his 4th gen as he's running boost. First off your gonna have to drop the tank. Its pretty much disconnecting all the fuel lines BUT this one eletrical connector on top of the tank was a PITA to take off. I swear it took like 20 minutes. Once the tank was off we took out the pump itself. Its pretty different from the taco system. In one of the pics it compares a xrunner pump to the 4runner. I assume the 4runners pump is bigger as there was the V8 option. The filter itself looks like cardboard. the walbro 255 is a superior comparedto what we have, so it was worth installing. You will have to drill out the area where the factory pump sits so the 255 fits. The sock that comes with it has maybe 10% more volume. Word of warning though once to try to drill it out YOU ARE COMMITTED. Once it was installed back on the truck I gave it a crank to check which lines were what. On the test drive the truck feels a tad better. You really feel the difference above 5000 all the way to 6200 RPM. All in all its a nice mod as you now have a fuel filter to change and if you plan on boosting you won't have to worry about fuel delivery. Maybe if theres enough interest Gadget might make a 4runner specific kit. A big thank you goes to XRU H-town crew for the help in install this SOB on my truck.:lookout:
