URD making a Supercharger kit for V8 4Runners!!

Yes that is tires chirping going into 2nd.

There is a durability issue with the 4.7L engine and there were some failures with the TRD system. Yes, the US made engines use powdered metal connecting rods so the max RPM has to be limited.

The engineer that made the engine control systems for TRD that were included in those supercharger kits now works with me. It turns out that there is an issue in the stock ECU that when a series of things line up just right and there is boost in the engine, it can be turned into a bomb. With this knowledge, we have designed our UCON-Ethos EMS to remove the stock ECUs ability to cause this problem. So, I believe we have solved the engine control problem, but the overall durability issue of the physical engine remains and that will limit the max RPM and power we can produce. We have been running an 05 Tundra for a few years now at a power level of 150 RWHP over stock and it just purrs along. I will not push this engine as hard as we have pushed the 4.0L that we have pushed to 540 RWHP up from 205 RWHP stock.

Anyway, really would love to get the 4Runner V8 kit going.

Don't have any info on the 4Runner V8 system because we have not made it yet, but will combine the 4Runner V6 system with the Tundra V8 system and use our UCON-Ethos EMS with its self tuning logic and engine protection features.

Please do not blow up my in-box with a bunch of questions I cannot answer. Will give full info when the system is ready for market.

According to the website: "2003+ 4Runner V8 - Tundra system nearing completion."

I would assume it would be nearly identical to their 1st gen Tundra system, its closer to the same motor than the 05'+ 4Runner motors.

Is there any information to support that? I haven't found any information in TIS that implies or states that Tundras had non-forged rods. All I saw was that the LC100, 4Runner, and Sequoia use Sinter Forged Connecting Rods as confirmed by Toyota, but they didn't mention one way or the other in regards to the Tundra. It'd be nice be able to set that in stone one way or the other.

03-04 are non-vvti motors. You can get a supercharger for those. Hard to find, but their out there. 05-09 are the vvt-i motors and we don't have a supercharger currently. The way I understand it is the supercharger was blowing out the bottom end on the Tundra and sequoia so TRD pulled production. Here's the kicker, those motors are made in America but the 4Runner is made in Japan. American 4.7 has cast connecting rods, Japanese motors have forged. Stronger parts!

Read son. I included my post from earlier explaining that the 03 and 04 already have the supercharger, it's just hard to find sometimes. Nathana is running one on his.
 
I read your post the first time around. Sure the TDR S/C is an option for us '03-'04 folks BUT it's the ONLY option and Toyota has ended its production so it would be nice to have another avenue to supercharge and boost..."SON"!!
 
I'll be willing to lend my 04 V8 over to URD for a few weeks as a test mule! I'm curious as to what the power output will be... I know they had to keep the boost conservative for the US made 2UZ-FEs, but I'm curious as to how much more boost the Japan made 2UZ-FEs could handle.
 
I'm in for a supercharger. But after reading all this differences between the rods, idk anymore. I think I would be good with intake, headers, full exhaust, and a quality tune.... Idk if a heafty price tag could justify the power gains. I would say if you can make make an extra 150whp safely, without having to get the motor built to handle such power.
Just my two cents. But ! Let's see what URD will bring to the table, I'm very interested. Especially after what they have done with the v6 4.0.
 
So with what everyone is saying is my 04 TRD supercharged T4R just a time bomb? It is very hard to get a lot of true information from anyone about the TRD systems. It is kind of like everyone knows a guy that blew up his 4.7 but......
 
Not if it is a 4Runner, motor and vehicle were made in Japan with some forged internals.
Tundra/sequoia made in the US came with cast iron internals which couldn't handle the boost. So since you have a 4Runner with the stronger motor, you should be good. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, that's just what I'm getting from research.
