Urd Will Offer New S/c Kit

For those that dont frequent the Performance Forum very offten...URD USA has undertaken development of an offroad Ypipe which will delete the secondary catalytic converters which should be good for about 10hp in the 2uz 4.7L V8.

In addition, they have let certain members know that there WILL be a new upcomming supercharger kit. Since its next to impossible to get URD on the phone, email is the easiest (but hardly fastest way to contact them). This is the reply email from URD about my inquiry to the status of the supercharger pkg.


"URD will be doing a major supercharger development program and will be making kits for every Toyota truck including yours. You will see kits announced regularly over the next couple of months."



There it is...someone will finally step up and make a new S/C pkg. They already have pkg's for other toyota chasis's with the 4.0l V6 but since I mentioned that I have the V8, the text above makes me believe that the v8 will also have its own kit.

They did offer a kit for the tundra, which no longer appears on their site anymore but it was making about 400hp at the flywheel.

I am very very interested too but don't want to get my hopes up. TRD pulled the S/C off the shelves because of engine rod problems. Yeah, I'm sure people were increasing boost to cause the failure but I still wouldn't want to risk it. A new engine will be wayyy too expensive.
If URD can make a reliable S/C and address the problems that the prior unsuccessful TRD S/C had, I'd definitely buy. Maybe they can also fabricate stronger rods as an option package to the S/C kit???

How about emailing them with a link to this thread. Maybe they'll read up on it to gauge interest in the S/C and understand our concerns.

I didn't mean for them to post a request for orders (or anything like that) or even to ask questions. What I meant is that they can freely read the comments, concerns, and ideas that the forum members have regarding the S/C.

Just to let everyone know, URD does not produce majority of the products they offer(resellers), so thats why they can not come up with concrete deadlines.

Casper, you can be the second 05 to own the kit when and if its released.

Even if URD were to produce a kit, i would recommend to everyone not to purchase it.

Their ability to return or answer there phones(customer support) is lacking, not to mention again that they do not design,develop, or impliment majority of the products they carry. How can you provide support if you dont even understand how it works.

I emailed URD yesterday and within 2 hours, I received a phone call from a representative.

Here was my original email:

Hey guys,
Theres a lot of talk at T4R.org about you guys possibly offering a V8 S/C pkg and was wondering if you were looking at the 4.0 V6 engine as well? Thanks guys!

What the representative told me was that they already offer a S/C kit for the V6 4Runner (with VVT-i), they just don't advertise it. After I tried to show him their poor logic, he convinced me that within a week, the kit would be up on their website. He also told me that the price was ~$350 to $400. Sounds like a steal.

300 to 400 dollars? are you sure you typed or heard this correctly. And I have yet to see this v6 kit installed on a 4runner....
