USA Spec PA15-TOY

I received this in the mail today and the instructions state that if you have the Rear Seat Entertainment system (I do)then the unit should be hooked up to the ECU located in the rear quarter panel. Anyone hook it up this way?

Kinda sucks if I have to hook it up this way because then I have to find and buy an AUX cable that is REALLY long and run it all the way to the front.

i have the same unit in my truck. Nav and Rear Seat ent. and I have the adapter hooked up to the head unit. I took about 30 min start to finish.

That is what I thought and read mostly, that people hooked it up to their head unit. But on their website under the unit it says to hook it up to the ECU and then in the manual it also says to hook it up to the ECU (note #8). I wish I knew what the difference, if any, there is if you hook it up at the head unit. I guess I won't be doing it this weekend and I'll wait to talk to tech support on Monday to get the specifics.

Just hook it up to the head unit and if it works, leave it. Otherwise find the long a$$ aux cable and redo

I agree. I actually didnt even read the directions since I had the same unit on my Pathfinder. I hooked it up and even have steering wheel controls. While I had the dash apart I plugged an AUX cable into the unit too so I can run any other device I want. Works perfect!

Alright, I'm just going to hook it up today. Ryan, do you remember the position you put the DIP switches on in the back since you hooked Ipod and AUX? Where exactly did you scew the unit into?

Its been a while since I installed it and cant recall the settings for the DIP switches, the manual should tell you how to set the switches for a "manual" operation. When I hook my Ipod i have to change the setting on the head unit to dics 8 for manual operation. If I dont do that then I just use the steering wheel controls. As far as screwing it in....I just kinda placed the box in an open spot in the dash when you have it apart and was able to close every thing back up with no problems. I routed the wires out the side of the console next to the driver seat so you can see any wires unless you are using a device.

I did this 2 weeks ago, switches are as follows. 1 is off, 2,3,4 is on. Install to head unit, I have same setup as you. Works great!!

Done! I put the unit below the pop-out drawer and in front of the shifter and ran the Ipod cord into the center console. Scuffed the inside bottom of the console with the drill bit trying to widen the hole a little but everything went smooth otherwise.

Also ran the AUX cable up to my Droid RAZR mount. Now it has power and internet(Pandora)! I can also do hands-free calling, it comes out through the speakers and the mic is in the perfect position for me to talk into. I'm pretty happy about the whole set-up.

In the pics are where I put the unit, the power winshield mount with AUX run to it, the hardwired Motorola charger, and the Ipod cable in the center console.

Did you have to use a Y-cable? I bought the PA15 toy off ebay but did not come with the Y-cable and am wondering what model I need (CAS-TLC?). Any help would be awesome. Thanks in advance

If you received that from Toyota, why don't you just take it to the dealer and have them do it? Is it somewhat of a TSB?
