USB Hard Drive Folders Problem

Hello 4runner fam:

I have over 200 GB of music on my 500 GB hard drive. When I hold and select random for 2 seconds, it states that it's randomly picking songs from random folders; however, it only picks from within maybe 150 folders from the folder selected. I have 900 folders so this poses a problem. When I go to folder 900, it will randomly pick songs from folders 750 - 900 and not the full hard drive. Is anyone else having this problem? If not, do you know what might be the problem??

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the info harper. I'll read through the second topic. I already read through the "How to use a USB port" earlier today

I formatted the Mini HD to FAT32 as stated in the earlier post and put the songs on the HD. I can play songs in all the folders manually but when I put it on random, it just shuffles trough maybe 100-150 folders instead of the total 993. Do you guys think it may have to do with the HD being a USB 3.0?

i have no idea what file system toyota is using. obviously it reads fat32. but, i would think that usb 3.0 would be backward compatible to 2.0 and 1.1.

So i would say No. but i have nothing to back that up.

Think I figured out the problem....i didn't realize I had so many folders...i have over 1200 folders....i'm going to consolidate them down and i think it should work now
