Used car warranty

Has anyone ever purchased a used car warranty? I'm already having tach issues and don't want to think of anything else going wrong. I just bought a 2003 Sport and I'm thinking of keeping it for quite some time. I really, really like the 4Runner and would prefer not to empty my wallet to keep it running in top shape. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A Toyota Warranty for a used vehicle needs to be purchased at time of sale from a Toyota Dealer. If you purchased from a private party or non-Toyota dealer you are out of luck. A third party warranty is useless. Just do a search on google for all the scams out there.

Btw - you said "tach issues". Not sure what that means but if it doesn't affect the running of the SUV why worry about it? Generally, these vehicles are bullet proof and run for a long time on just maintenance.
