Hey man....if I had it MY way, everyone would have a V1!!! Actually I guess I have to take that back, because then the police would want to find a way to combat the power of a Valentine One. So until then, guess you've gotta go to a school where they pay you a sallary 
I got mine about a week and a half ago....and it's amazing. I hardwired it the following weekend using the kit that comes with every package. I do a lot of electric work in my car anyway, but the kit really made it even easier. Probably took 15 minutes once I knew what I wanted to do with it. Mine is mounted high on the windshield, to the right of the rearview mirror and tapped into a 12v wire that supplies the two reading lamps. I ran the cable along the ceiling without having to remove it...you can pull it down to get the cable up there. Then I removed the plastic cover on the pillar between the windshield and the door (also very easy with a screw driver...just remove the covers on the handgrip, unscrew those two, and the pillar cover pops right off). I then mounted my concealed display unit ($39.99) above the center "pod" on my instrument pannel. I'll post pictures next time I work on the car (next weekend -- around 15 March)
This thing is really amazing. I can get detection from two hills away...that is to say that I can be behind two hills and a radar transmiting will undergo enough reflection to get a signal past the two hills and the V1 is so sensetive that it can pick up these extremely minute signals. Furthermore, once you have the direction indicators, you'll never be able to live without them. The guys at Valentine are definitely right: using a radar detector is an art and it's so much easier with the arrows. It makes finding the real threats a piece of cake.
If you've got some extra cash...get one. You'll thank yourself over and over again.

I've used the best radar detectors I could lay $ on for a long time.
There has never been any detector better than the V1. The arrows may seem a little silly....'til you use 'em. Then you will be laughing @ yourself for being so wrong! You will soon live by them.
I tapped @ the fuse box, as it's the perfect place to locate the small V1 transformer; it wedges perfectly in a gap left of center. There is a very good post here, w/pics; I think it's in Electonics, Stereos, etc.
I live in New Russia, err, Virginia : the only state in the union that defies the US Supreme Court & hold RDs illegal. Therefore, concealment is mandatory. I used a strip heavy duty Velco on top of the mirror [driver's side] & sit/wedge the unit there. It fits perfectly, holds fine, & arranging the sunvisor & pullout shade, it is darn near invisible.
Concealment anywhere is a good idea: prevents roadside "judge & jury" enforcement, i.e., "If he has a RD, he HAD to be speeding."

Everyone says the arrows are just awesome .. I guess I will just have to wait till I save up some money to get one to find out. Does your V1 give you false feedback often.. like it will go off on the interstate and no cops or radar detecting devices will be there .. mine does it all the time .. maybe because its a peice of crap $50 radar detector .. anyways I look forward to getting one asap
It's really not prone to false as much as some others I have had. You always wonder if you get a hit & don't see a badge, if it falsed, or you just didn't see the badge....

The V1 has a nice feature which allows you to hit a little button, & the vol goes down to a pre-set 2nd level. It has this feature on the remote readout also, which I highly recommend.
