Looking to regear. Seems like most with this setup are going with 4.88s. Anyone with 5.29s have input or anyone with 4.88s wish they went with 5.29s?
Vehicle will be 10% hwy 10% city 80% off road. Eventho its mainly off road, I don't want it to be horrible on the hwy getting to the trails.

5.29s I would wager would be way too much. I don't think I've seen anybody with them even the 03-04 v6 guys with the 4spd from the factory. Too bad you already have ARB lockers, probably could have saved some money...
I daily drive mine (V8 though) interstate and city 50/50 and it's really not too bad unless its windy. Would I regear if I had the money? Yes, but max of 4.56s and mainly because of a few long trips and for the rock crawling benefit. Do you have 35's now?
If you were mainly offroading, and driving a short distance to get there, regearing may not be worth it except for the increased torque while doing the offroading. (If you were rock crawling)
I haven't regeared yet so I'm not the most experienced on the matter, but even with your V6, you could easily try the stock gears until you've decided on what you want, unless this is the point where you are at now. My brother's FJ (V6) with 34s is a bit slower than mine.

The main thing I'm going off of was there was a guy on the FJ forums that said he had 4.88s then installed 4.56s and said the 4.88s were too high. :shrug: It is likely nobody will give you a definitive answer partially because they haven't tried more than one gearset and partially because everybody's rigs and expectations are different.
