V6 Aftermarket Muffler

I have searched through many pages on here and can only find information for exhaust for the v8's out there.

I see some discussion about the flowmaster series 40/50, magnaflow, and borla mufflers for the v6...

Questions:

1. Is there any general consensus on a good V6 muffler? I would like a modest gain in volume, but not obnoxiously loud (have my sv650 for that).
2. Does anyone have some good quality sound clips of the 4.0 V6 with an aftermarket muffler?
3. If there is a thread similar to this one, can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any input!

Not much to know about em. I cut out the rez, added a Flowmaster and put a chrome tip out to the side. I did this back in 04 so can't remember much. I like the sound it makes. Not anoying loud but more than stock. Don't think you'll gain more HP? I did a pipe on my last truck and last 4 bikes so it's natural for me to swap out over stock. I put up a pix if you want to see it?on p.2 of the 4th gen section a thread about a mod to my 12v plug in the back. Good luck.

Flowmaster 50 suv sounds good , theres some clip of 4runner with flowmaster 50 suv on youtube you should look it up.

hey fire engineer!

So I was just in your position about 5 months ago. I drive a 2008 Urban Runner (basically a Sport Edition fancied up). I wanted something that was bold and sounded great with some acceleration- BUT I wanted very little hum/drone when driving. I bought a Flowmaster 50 Series SUV. I figured I'd go for it and try it out. I bought my online (cheaper), and had it installed locally. When I turn on my V6 baby she's roars a little bit, then just sounds like it would like a normal idle. Then when you pull off it rumbles a little bit. Then on the highway you can hear a faint sound but it sounds nothing like a diesel or too loud (which is what I wanted). I hope this helps a little bit. I took a clip of my 4Runner back in June featuring the exhaust muffler. Here's the link, and I hope this helps!

Great! Thanks for the information, Flowmaster 50 SUV seems like the consensus standard...

I will listen to the videos later (I am cruising at about 22,000 feet currently and didn't bring any headphones). This wifi thing on an airplane is pretty cool! Free trial too!!

This is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. I have modded exhaust on my past vehicles as well, kind of prefer a little more audible feedback than stock.

Thanks again,

-Brandon

yeah hope that helps buddy! I love mine and the sound is great. Post some videos if you do upload one. I was just on a delta flight and curteuosy of eBay we got free wifi, awesome stuff. I put mine on a stock and it sounds great. Little V6 and all. Also I haven't done anything to my in-take, exhaust pipes, or anything. So your getting a true "stock junkie" here..haha

yeah it sound awesome. My setup was 2.5 center in, off set out I believe. Just make sure you have the right setup for your toyota. Easy to figure it out too.

Hey Urban Runner, if I saw your video correctly you paid about 75 bucks, why is his 120 something. Can you give a part number to a fellow 08 owner.
