V6 Header Leak

Hey all,

I have an '04 V6 and am hearing a very loud ticking (that's been getting worse since purchase) when I accelerate at low speeds. It sounds very much like a cracked header. I've checked the "V6 Tick Tap" noise and found that that wasn't causing the issue. I have yet to inspect the header.

I know that the headers on the 4th gen V8s can be prone to cracking. What about the V6's?

Where can I find a replacement header? Are there aftermarket ones available?

I guess my question now is moreso whether or not the V6 exhaust manis are prone to leaking.

Start a thread like the one we have for the dash cracks so anyone else that this happens to can report it there along with their claim number from Toyota..

Hasn't been resolved yet. The truck just sounds like ass and I haven't really been motivated to fix it since it won't be cheap either way.

I'm also thinking it could be some kind of noise from the head. I've heard a lot about these engines just being noisy and making ticking/tapping noises. So it could very well be something like that. I'd think anything serious would've gotten worse over the course of 10k miles, but this has stayed pretty consistent.
