V6 PCV Valve Location

Does anyone know where the PCV valve is located on the 4.0L V6? I would like to replace it, but I haven't noticed where it is located. I'm guessing that I may need to remove the plastic cover over the engine to find it.

I think Toyota uses a term other than PCV valve. Does anyone know what they call it or have a part number? Thanks.

It's called a "ventilation valve":

Yours is an '06. Way too soon to even think about this. I plan on looking at mine and testing it at 96K km (60K mi) even though it's not even mentioned in any service schedule I've seen.

I know you're right, but replacing the PCV valve periodically is one of those small maintenance items that a non-mechanically inclined person such as myself can do without much hassle. So for $10 or $15, I get to work under the hood and tell my wife that I'm going out to "work on the car." :D
 
I actually remove most PCV valves and then spray them brake-cleaner, on both sides. Once dry I try to blow thru the check valve in the wrong direction. If she leaks then I buy a new one. Also make sure the flow is possible in the correct direction.

I am wondering where to purchase a manitenance guide for my 03 4Runner ?

Yep. Got it on eBay. There are a number of other threads that discuss getting the manuals. Unfortunately, neither Haynes nor Chilton have one yet.

so did you ever change your pcv valve and was it easy to find? i have an 04 but cannot find it either
 
My vent valve (PCV valve) isn't working properly and I can't find it under the hood. the attached diagram isn't much help for me to locate it. Sorry!!

can some take a picture of it and circle it for me... please.
 
The diagram isn't available anymore, but I see the picture. How easy is this to swap? The stealership wanted quite a bit to change this out and said it was something they recommended since I was at just over 80k miles.
 
Replaced the PCV valve on my 2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4x4, V6 with 75600 miles today. PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valve is located in the rear of the engine on driver's side. You will need a 19mm deep socket with an extension and something to cover your fender from scratching. Factory PCV valve is in there pretty tight so it was little challenging but, it took me about 15 minutes, cost of the PCV valve is $6.50(ebay). and it actually made the engine sound smoother and it feels good about having it done.

Just wanted to say thanks [MENTION=101442]united4989[/MENTION] for the helpful details like the socket size and so on. Saved me time, which is the most valuable thing any of us have.

BTW, your user name reads like a flight number but that's what 20+ years in aviation will do to a person's perception of the world. ;-)
