Anybody else have a V6 with the sulpher smell similar to the V8 owners complaints? Mine stinks when I step on the gas with the rear window open.
Are there any TSB'sregarding this for V6?

I have the problem and will be getting it taken care of next week. Other than when the rear window is open, there's no oder.

Apparently, the fix is not 100%. It reduces the occasions you smell it but you'll still smell it when you get heavy on the gas. Look at the V8 Sulfur thread. Someone on there, I think "Mark" says he got his done but he also still occasionally gets the smell. I know, not what you wanted to hear but still.

I'll be getting mine done shortly, and I'll report back in the thread how it goes.

Question for you Partsrep, how did you know which manufacturing plant your T4R was constructed in? Did you just look at the VIN and compare it to the one that was similar to yours?

I used to have the smell on my 2004 V6 SE, but somewhere in another post on this topic, somebody said to use Chevron gas. I switched to Chevron unleaded and have not smelled the sulfer since.

I have the same problem. :awais: When today i push gas pedal all the way with the rear window open all interior filled up with terrible smell:eek2:. I have Sport Edition V6 and car was made in May 2004. I checked TSB and I don't think mine is somwhere betwen those numbers. If any of You will get some info about V6 please let me know. I will go to dealer anyway and try to find out if they can do anything about it.

I didn't say which plant mine was from, just that I was past the production change, but if I had to guess I'd say Hino as my VIN's 11th & 12th digit are 48, the same as the Hino Plant VIN's. My build date is 02/04.

Bye Bye Swamp A*s

I took my 03 4R to the dealer yesterday and had the TSB taken care of. They reprogrammed the ECU and changed out the catalytic converter (sp?). In addition, they found an unrelated issue during the test drive and made a minor warranty repair right then and there.

Even though the weather was not great, I drove with my back window down and put it through the ringer. 99% better, I was impressed. Today I did the same thing and same results. At worst, I have a slight ammonia smell when I am going up the huge hill that I live on. I used to gag when I went up that. In general, however, no swamp smell.

Definitely worth the time if your vehicle is covered. I am really happy that I took the time to get this done. Much much better.
