V6 Towing A 3rd Gen?

I'm possibly picking up another 3rd gen that has a blown motor and need to tow it ~100 miles. I can get AAA to do it but I was wondering if you think it's fine to tow the 3rd gen with a 4th gen V6. My parents have a 4th gen and it would be easier to just tow it myself and probably the same price after tip and all. Some of the route is up a somewhat steep pass but most is streets and flat highway.

Shouldn't be a problem. I towed a bass boat with my 04' when it was stock from SoCal to NorCal and everywhere in between and never had an issue.

I figured so, but thought I'd ask. It's $55 for a trailer so I might go that route or try to borrow one. Thanks for the response!

I yanked a 3rd gen and 2nd gen at the same time (they were tied together, the 3rd gen got stuck trying to pull the 2nd gen) stuck in the snow with my V8 4WD together, so a V6 towing a 3rd gen won't be an issue.

Get a tow dolly and remove the drive shaft from the one being towed. Use a cable come along to load the dead one on the dolly. Less weight than a trailer too.

Grab a tow dolly from UHaul. Tell them you are pulling a Festiva with an F750.
Disco the rear drive shaft once on the dolly and you are GTG.

yep, a dolly is a better idea.
A trailer is to much unneccessary weight.

Thanks guys for the responses. I have AAA so it would be free but a pain wait around, tip, and I might be towing it just over 100 miles. I've never towed a vehicle so I'm assuming I should put the back wheels on the dolly, remove the driveshaft (marking where it bolts up for reinstall) and I'm good to go. I'd tell them I'm towing a honda civic or corrolla. Something small enough. I'll post my experience and pictures if it goes through.

check the manual, some cant be towed nose down.

probably best to remove the rear shaft, and put the front on the dolly.
then theres no concern. you're running on the rear axle/bearings only.

you don't want your tow weight more than your vehicle weight.

I would just use AAA if you have the free 100 mile towing. You will only get like 8 mpg while towing that loaded, and you have to go through the hassle of getting the trailer, getting the 4th gen, undoing the driveshaft, when you could just let someone else tow it for cheaper.

Last i checked you have to show up at Uhaul with the vehicle you are using to tow so definetley dont say you will be towing with a Diesel F250, so just say you are towing like a 92 miata with the 4th gen and it should be good. Definetley unbolt the rear driveshaft if you tow it on your own.

I couldn't agree more. Let someone else do the work if it's minimal cost or about the same. Plus the tow truck company is liable if they screw up something.

I agree aaa all the way, last thing you wanna do is cause damage or shorten the life to the trans on the 4th gen. or whatever unknown that might happen

Yeah it's probably the simplest, I just liked the idea that I could bring it to my house first, then to where it would end up at.
