V6 vs. V8 gas mileage

How's that 93 octane helping you?
I drive very aggressively. Frequently cruise at 90. That was easily inferred.

get between 190 n 220 miles before my guage hits the middle line, all btw 60 n 85mph, 05 sr5 v6, kinda ok for such a big truck...still miss my rav4!

My first full tank with this 4R got me 17.06 MPG. I do a 40/60 split of city/highway driving and I try to obey the speed limit.
I changed the spark plugs, drained and refilled the diffs. and t-case, checked all the psi in the tires and filled it back up with gas. So far I'm about 160 miles into this tank and I'm coming up on the 1/2 mark. So I'd say it's going to finish up very close to 17 MPG again.
I'm VERY happy with my mileage so far considering it's a V8 and I don't ever wish for more power. I used to drive Dodge trucks that got 12 MPG all the time and this 4R is a refreshing change of pace. In fact, this thing is almost getting the same mileage I was getting out of my '12 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with the brand new Pentastar V6 and 6-speed manual.

+1. I was expecting horrible MPG from my new (to me) V8. The gauge read 10.7 when I picked it up, but after driving back to Duluth, MN from Missouri, driving down to Minneapolis and around the city a couple of times, and driving around town here in Duluth, I'm at 17.8. I actually hit 18, but then idled it for a long time while parked (charging my computer).
Not much different from my 2011 V6 - other than having much better acceleration whenever I want it.

my mpg recently took a hit...was previously doing 190 to 210 miles b4 i hit the halfway mark...now am struglling to do 180 miles on the halfway mark [highway miles], when i refill my trip guage writes 289 miles instead of the 329 miles it used to write couple of months ago when i bought the truck.
filled my tank and did a 260mile trip n filled my tank back up with 66liters. since 3.75liters = 1 us gallon.....i hand calculated and got 14,7mpg!.....pretty poor for a v6 4th gen......i hv replaced the air filter and reset the ecu, the trip guage now reads 329miles, will know if there is any change when next i do a long highway trip.

wow 358miles!....and urs is even a v8....guess something cud be wrong with mine. will change the plugs and reset the computer again...and see what happens

All depends on what kind of driving you do... Me, in my stop and go, 100% city, hilly commute to and from work, I can't even begin to sniff those numbers...
But if I go on a highway trip, it goes way up.

the moment you buy a big suv, with a big ol' engine in there is the moment fuel efficiency is usually out the window (barring diesel/hybrid). Add a 4wd setup, and it's just time to grin and bare it or move on to a smaller vehicle

Normally right after a fill up mine shows 410 miles or so, but this drops off sharply. This time of year (winter gas, some 4x4 use on snowy roads, short trips) I typically hit the halfawy mark between 180 - 210 and normally fill up around 350. I have gone over 400 on a tank but that was in September (Summer gas) and riding on very flat roads on the Eastern plains at ~ 23 mpg.
Having just come out of a 3rd gen, which is noticeably smaller and significantly less powerful, I'm very impressed by the MPG of the 4th gen! But the best feature is the 23 gallon tank - the 18.5 gallon tanks in my 3rd gen 4runner and 1st gen Taco were pathetic!
