I recently replaced the water pump, thermostat, and radiator in my runner. I found the leaks (pink stuff) on two not so visible places my radiator. That prompted me to replace the water pump and thermostat while I had everything apart. My water pump was weeping the pink stuff also, but I couldn't see it until I had the fan off.
Anyway, the Haynes manual (yes, I know that the FSM is better) calls for the removal of several components to remove the water pump once unbolted. The alternator, ac compressor, and drivebelt tensioner are among the items that you don't have to remove. The drivebelt tensioner and pulley can be moved to the left (just like you are releasing the tension to change the serpentine belt) to access and loosen the bolt on the water pump behind it. That saved me from removing unnecessary components and a ton of time.
I'm sure that there are many people that are already aware of this, but I felt the need to contribute. This forum and everyone posting in it has taught me a lot and has saved me time and money. Thank you to everyone.
